I suspect this isn't specific to the Shadow but it's my first WiFi WM phone so I'm gonna ask. Why is WiFi slow?

Basically it's faster than EDGE, but it can still take a while (after it's connected to my router) to connect to a web site. And downloading data doesn't seem terribly fast either.

So what's the scoop here?

Is it faster using Opera? If so, then PIE is the problem!

Nope. Opera's speeds are similarly affected. Opera Mini - same thing.

Opera mini would have a delay since the data has to be first processed by opera's proxy servers.

Is your complaint primarily about the transfer speed or the initial connection speed?

If initial connection, try disabling the auto-off features of the wifi and to specify a fixed ip address instead of using dhcp.

If transfer speed, did you try going into your wifi settings and changing the Power Mode from Auto / Best Battery to Best Performance?

Also I recommend using the OpenDNS DNS servers, 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 - speed up browsing for me immensely, both on the device and on my home machine biggrin.gif
