No regrets about buying my import Eee, but it'd be really handy if I could get that bit that adapts the US plug into a UK plug. Any ideas?

Try contacting http://www.lindy.co.uk - they do custom work or buy stuff from imports, I think.

http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=145582 - I use this model all the time, but only if the adaptor itself is worldwide voltage switching. You can get similar things from tesco for £0.69p ( shaver adapter but US plugs will fit) but they aren't rated above 1 amp.

Maplin do a Voltage conversion wallwart plug in one unit from sunpower I think for £9.99 or there abouts.

What about an asus laptop adapter off ebay? As this is a cost-reduced item it's unlikely they've re-invented the wheel so to speak so they'll have used stuff from other models where possible so maybe worth checking if you want a pukka UK adapter.

I've glued wonpro plugs onto US moulded plugs where I couldn't just fit a UK plug - if you get the black version and use a decent gluegun with black coloured glue rather than the usual clear stuff it looks almost OEM and very neat - the shaver adapters are just a stop-gap.

If it's a standard barrell connector to the computer you'll find a UK one on ebay. If the adapter is multi voltage just cut the plug off and wire on a UK one?

£20 for an original laptop charger STEEP? You having a laugh?.. rolleyes.gif Yes i know it looks like a mobile phone charger but that's not the point...

Try buying a genuine vaio adapter...or macbook / g4 ibook...or an obscure tosh. They're steep, some vaios as much as £95 ohmy.gif

From the pic you could glue a black wonpro plug on to the US version and it wouldn't stick out too much further or look odd IMO.

Haha, I suppose it's cheap actually from that respect, it just feels expensive as it's a high proportion of 200 odd quid biggrin.gif

Yeah s'pose. When you put it that way 12.5% of the purchase price IS steep ( as it's £20 + vat + shipping..!)
