OK, I don't know how to make the LED blink as long as desired, but I noticed something that might allow you Programmers out there to figure it out.

When the phone is in the 'Silent' Profile, when an Alarm goes off, the LED blinks purple until you cancel it. It will go on for several minutes at least, I haven't seen it stop unless cancelled.

So there is a routine in the phone, dependent upon both the Profile setting and the alarm, that blinks the LED until told to stop by a User' input.

Couldn't the Rom be tweaked to invoke this routine when an email/Message arrives?

Get coding Gods!

Way back I pointed out in the BJII Forum that there was clearly more to the BJII's LED capability than met the eye. Now QoreFunctions have written an App to take control of the otherwise nearly useless LED on this phone! biggrin.gif

It turns out the BJ II's LED has no less than 7 colours! QoreFunctions App allows you to assign any of these colours to an incoming event (email, SMS, MMS, Voice mail, Missed Call, Calender Appointment!) and to have it flash for anywhere from a few seconds, to indefinetly! This is just about Perfection!

It's available at: http://www.qorefunctions.com/ for $12.95, and there's a free 7 day trial too! I'm using the Trial version and I expect to purchase this darling little bit of code after a few days!

Go ahead and give it a try. If you've been missing a useful LED on you rphopne, hten this is for you! If you just might like to improve it, give the Trial a whirl and see what you think!

Of, and if you have more than one event occur, then the light alternates colours. How cool is that!

PS: MadSci has NO affiliation whatsoever with Qorefunctions, just a lot of admiration for them! Thanks Guys!

Hmm, I remember playing with the LED on my Moto V600 for a long while, was a lotta fun. But to pay for it on the Blackjack II? It really doesn't have enough features to want to pay to play with....

Ah well, it's probably more useful to many other people though than it is for me. Thanks!

Even for around $5 I think a lot of people would buy this app, but at $13, I doubt many would. I don't care about the LED light that much. rolleyes.gif

I downloaded the trial and I'm liking this app.
No more picking up the phone and pressing the buttons to see if I have a msg or missed call if I left the room.
Now I can just look at the indicator and see....ooo...no messages.

The price on the website says $14.95. The programmer should get paid for his work but the trade off is how badly does one need or want it for this price?

Yes, the price went up another $2.00 in the past week. Supply and demand, baby! Looks like a lot of people have purchased this much wanted / needed function, so Qorefunctions is capitalizing on this demand. It's only smart business - Marketing 101. I wouldn't be surprised if they jack up the price to $19.95 in the next couple of weeks if not days in order to catch the "newness" wave of BJII's being sold out of the AT&T stores. Personally, I'll wait until the excitement goes down with the price quickly following. I can live without the LED alerts for now.

Just like Airboss said, what do you really need versus what do you really want???? Have your own deep thoughts. rolleyes.gif

I used the trial on the weekend and I just activated for 14.95. A great app.
I'm in a work area with 4 other peope and usually have my phone on my desk in silent mode,
so having the LEDs flash diff colors for missed SMS, Voice meail, E-mail, calenser reminders, is awesome.

When i fisrt bought the BJII , my main issue was that it would not remind you of missed calls, voice mails, SMS, etc.
You can miss calls when your not in the office or even if phone is in your pants in a loud restaurant or ball game.
I loved the reminder featuer on my old Razor (if would beep or vibrate indefinately if you had a missed event).
Well worth the $14.95 for me at least.

Glad you are enjoying it! LEDAlerts was quite challenging to develop for the BlackJack, Samsung did not make it easy to access the LEDs and manage them. We worked hard to engineer a functional and reliable application.

Hey guys, how about a discount for promoting the idea, and then your software biggrin.gif

Better yet, how about a special "MoDaCo Subscribers" price!

Remember, you can't buy publicity like this!

Quorefunctions - I wanted to let you know that I think this application is great and I purchased it yesterday. After your one fix you made earlier it seems to work very reliably and I am a satisfied customer.

I have one observation that I am interested in your thoughts on.

I sync with our Corporate Exchange server (I am not sure this makes any difference versus a regular POP/IMAP account) alot and I notice that if I stay on the Inbox screen or the first Outlook Mail screen where my mail acocunts are listed, and then receive a new email, the LED alert does not light.

If I back out to the Home Screen or any other screen and then receive an email the LED Alert works fine.

It would be good if it would still alert you when you are in your mailbox as I often do not go back to the homescreen all of the time after checking my mail.

Thanks!

That's the way it's supposed to work I believe. You can just check the box on the options screen and the LED will stay on if there are unread messages. I'm lovin this app! Don't even have to touch my BLackJack and I know what's going on!

I agree an awesome app.

It would be nice if they had a alert (vibration or beep) to coincide with the LED color alert.

It appears that LEDAlerts renders DontForget inoperable. Has anyone else had the same experience?

Have not seen that. Works great for me, I have found zero conflicts. I found DontForget2 to be very flacky without LEDAlerts installed. I had to remove it eventually. Slowed my device to a crawl. Auto keylock has similar sound reminder settings, I use it in conjunction with LEDAlerts.Very reliable.

OK, been using this App for a couple of months and I LOVE IT!
Samsung should buy it and include it in all their WM Devices, it would really be an nice feature to hawk.

Frankkly, I would hate to be without it at this point. Grabb it at a special price till the end of the month.

PS: If you like this level of notification, try the demo for Qorefunctions's EMailAlert. This will provide you with a customizable sound/vibration notification for each email account and text message. With this, you can tell by the sound in your pocket whether this message is coming into a low-priority source (ie to a shopping-type account) or a higher priority one (your work email, or your 'hot-date' account :-)

With the amount of email I get, I have managed it into many different accounts, and knowing which account is receiveing a given message saves me a lot of uneccessary digging out of the phone for low-priority messages.

Give it a try!
