My contract is coming up for renewal imminently, and so the fevered excitement of 'upgrade time' has of course gripped me.
However, I'm feeling a little deflated by the Windows Mobile range at T-Mobile at the moment. I've already got the Vario III on a second connection, and at the moment the tastiest handset they're offering is the Touch Plus, and the more I look at the specs sheet, the more I realise this is actually a pretty average handset wearing some pretty clothes. The ageing MDA Compact III does not appeal, the MDA Mail was outdated when it first went on sale, and the Ameo is just silly (are they still selling these with Windows Mobile 5 on board?!). Does anyone if when we might see something new and juicy from T-Mobile on the Windows Mobile front? It would be nice to see some more smartphone action... I guess what I'm really asking is: should I be holding off for a month or two for something new and exciting that's definitely coming to T-Mobile, or should I just accept that the next few months will be barren for T-Mo WinMo devices and just go for the Touch Plus? Why not see how much of a 'loyalty discount' you can get from them to extend your contract without a replacing your existing handset?
I agreed to free WnW plus from them and bought myself a new S730 on the basis that it wouldn't appear on a network that quickly. The problem with waiting is that The Next Great Handset is always just around the corner... |
