Thanks to our friends at www.PDAHut.com I've been trying out some third-party accessories for my EEE 701 4G!

First up we have the mains charger, branded as an "International Travel Charger Kit" it sports a similar design to the original EEE adapter and is bundled with no less than 4 adapters for a range of territories. Obviously I can only really try out the 3-pin UK one wink.gif From the picture you can see it includes the useful reusable velcro tie. The lead isn't too short at 1.5m but it's a bit of a far cry from the 3 meter adapter bundled with the EEE itself.

The block itself seems quiet, sturdy and in (admittedly limited so far) time I've been using it reasonably cool. The photo below doesn't show it too well, however the top of the 3-pin adapter itself is offset a few centimetres over the blocks top edge, so if you have a really low socket or cramped adapter you might have some issues. The 3 remaining adapters sit flush with the blocks top edge as they don't have a ground pin, so if you aren't UK based, or using it abroad, you should be fine.

Moving on to the car charger we again see a couple of nice touches including the velcro tie and a replicable fuse. The cable is a little shorter this time at 1.25m, which is fine if you're using your EEE as a car PC, but might be a bit of a stretch if someone on the back seat needed a little extra juice on a longer journey.

Finally the airplane charger, not something I could test I'm afraid wink.gif You'll need to buy the car charger as well if you plan on buying this, which converts the 12V cigarette plug into the adapter used on some aircraft. No velcro tie on this one but it'll add another 1.2m to the length of the car charger (not so important on a cramped airplane maybe! biggrin.gif )

The build quality for these accessories is on a par with the kit supplied by Asus directly and won't break the bank with pricing significantly undercutting Asus's official parts!
