Hey everyone. Ive been reading up and down these forums for about a week now and trying to feel my way around. This is my first smartphone and Im having issues with one thing so far thats driving me batty.

Ive done the File size change, Ive opened port 4.... but I cant do one thing I really want.

Im trying to change the incoming text message sound. I know the menu where you can make the change, but the file I want to change to doesnt appear. I downloaded a custom .wav file ("Message for you sir!" from Monty Python) and really want to use it for incoming texts. DOes it need to be a mp3? I currently have it as a .wav as all the other sounds listed are .wav's

After that which folder does it need to be in? Or do I need to copy over an existing sound to even make it work?

Thanks a bunch for any help and Im going to keep reading about tips and changes for my phone

Craig

Ok...

So after playing with it more I think I figured it out. It may not be 100% correct, but I added the .wav file to the ApplicationData/Sounds folder, then synced the phone and the wav file appeared in my options. There may be an easier way but I did get it to work

You can also do this through the registry if you have a nonstandard file type like .aiff.

Use a mobile registry editor and go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
ControlPanel
Sounds
SMS
Change the Sound String to whatever file you want just make sure to type out the entire path like:
\My Documents\My Sounds\Super_Mario_Coin.mp3

You can change many sounds here.
