I am attempting to play a xvid video using the core pocket media player and I DID increase the buffer but I am still getting quite a bit of video lag. Anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

What video encoding bitrate are you using? That might be why you are lagging. I usually encode xvid at 512kbps at 30(or 24)fps with audio at 128kbps and usually runs smoothly, although occasionally it lags and needs to be restarted. Quality is good at that bitrate. Higher than ~500kbps and I find TCPMP cannot play it smoothly.

Hi,

just wanna ask on how you do your encoding of stream using xvid source code (c based source code) because for now i am working on encoding my web cam stream and save the encoding stream into file, currently i have saved the stream(not sure yet) with 675KB of data on it, but when i try to play it back using VLC or windows media player its error" file corrupted or format not supported" dont know y its gonna happening? (i have installed with me xvid codecs on my system) any idea please...

thank you
reno

Here's what I do and it works GREAT! First of all, you have to have a good audio/vidio converter. I use Total Video Converter which has a 30 day trial, but I guarantee you'll buy it after the 30 days biggrin.gif You can convert any kind of video to any other kind of video, and in the process you can select your bitrates.

The Blackjack has a screen of 320 by 240 pixels, so encoding your video any higher is pointless. Encode at 320x240. Also, for smoothest playback, go with a video bitrate of 24 FPS (frames per second) and an audio bitrate of 112 kbps (which is just below CD quality of 128). Also, for playback on a mobile device, I always encode in Mono and not Stereo. You will not be able to tell the difference. It's not like your watching it on your home theater surround sound.

This is a common problem with Windows, especially Windows Media Player. Get a FREE Codec Pack from this site and chose one of the packs, any of them should work. I use the XP COdec Pack and the K-Lite Mega Codec pack. Install them and reboot. Also, to play videos I use the Divx Player. It's free and plays everything.
