I downloaded it from here...
http://www.clickapps.com/moreinfo.htm?pid=...p;section=SMART Installed it, opened fine, but cannot get it to work with the GPS. I have Google Maps and Windows Live Search working just fine... has anybody gotten GPS Utilities to work on their BJII? |

Okay. I guess it doesn't matter anyways. Google Maps and Windows Live only worked fine for a few hours, then decided to randomly quit connecting to the GPS. I didn't make a single change. The inconsistencies with this phone is really starting to annoy me.

The inconsistencies with this phone is really starting to annoy me. I said this in some other threads, it's best to pick one GPS application. Using multiple GPS applications seems to cause problems. I found that Windows Live also tends to be a problem when it comes to the GPS system. I haven't tested Google Maps enough to say though... If you need GPS, I recommend not using anything other than Garmin Mobile XT. It seems to be the one that handles the GPS and works best. But to get your GPS working again, you'll need to keep hard resetting your device until it works again. |

Not sure I want to hard reset it... I'm stubborn sometimes. lol
I will just uninstall Windows Live (it's SLOW anyways) and see if I can keep it working on just Google Maps. It just makes no sense for it to be working fine, then only a few hours later (after ZERO changes, phone was on the entire time) it doesn't find any satellites. How much is the Garmin program? If it's just not finding satellites, you don't have any problems with your GPS. It's very intermittent as far as finding satts, typically because of weather conditions and where you are. The cost of Garmin Mobile XT on a memory card depends on where you live. I believe the range is from ~100 USD to ~350. |

Well it just sits at "Seeking GPS Satellites (0)" for a few minutes until it gives up. It used to immediately say (5) or more satellites and identify my location.

Well it just sits at "Seeking GPS Satellites (0)" for a few minutes until it gives up. It used to immediately say (5) or more satellites and identify my location. See, if this makes sense in your case. All GPS'es maintain info of the current satelites, but do not search constantly for new ones. Unless you keep the app open for all that time, or if the GPS is powered down, next time it is up, it starts trying to connect to the list of last available satelites, does not reinitialize its table - that is why you can see a setting like "start up" = {warm, cold}. "Cold" would reinitialize every time it is started up, but this will be slow. That's why the default is "warm" usually. Now, after two hours the satelites you have connected may be actually "out of sight". And you/or the application needs to recognize it and reinitialize (cold start). Did you tried restarting it/cold start? |

AFAIK, GPS Utilities, in its current version, does not work with the Blackjack II's GPS. GPS Utilities BETA working with BlackJackII GPS !!! (and Paul's COM port activator) I just got a reply from Efficasoft and a new BETA unreleased version of "GPS Utilities" that WORKS with SGH-i617 (BlackJackII) GPS! Please follow instructions bellow to try it on! Awesome, thank you Efficasoft! NOTE: if you do not have Paul's "GPS Activator", you need to install this one (see attached) FIRST, so that you can open your COM4 port. 1. Download v2.0 from http://www.efficasoft.com/gpsutilities.html and install it on your phone. 2. Use "ActiceSync" to [Explore] your device, go to: \Program Files\GPS Utilities and paste the new BETA executable (see attached) on top of the existing one: GPSUtil.exe (copy it to the GPS Utilities installation directory on your phone. Overwrite the existing file). 3. Launch the GPS Utilities and you get the latest version 2.0.0 Build2525 BETA (the latest BETA build, unreleased). 4. Go to GPS Setup, set COM4 and Baud rate 19200. And you are ready to "Start GPS"!

(I don't have GPS service or data service with my cell provider, but I'm assuming that is the purpose of installing this software, the GPS hack at least) I installed the GPSActivator and then performed a soft reboot. After rebooting I installed GPS Utilities successfully and performed a soft reboot. I ran GPS utilities and configured the GPS to NOT auto-search bluetooth GPS, changed the com port to COM4 with a baud rate of 19200. When I start the GPS, the windows mobile hourglass shows for 13 seconds and then gives me error "Unable to connect to GPS receiver (0x08200a07). Please check the receiver connection setup ans try Start GPS again." I tried all of the other com ports as well to no avail. Am I missing something? After ages of searching for the right GPS util, this one takes the cake.
It reminds me a lot of my eagle explorer GPS software-wise, and it works great with the GPS hack. Thanks! |

Nothing works for me anymore...
The GPS used to work when I installed the MoDaCo.SmartphoneGPSActivator.COM4.CAB and GPSTest.exe but now nothing works. Do you think it could be from dropping my phone? Maybe it could damage the GPS receiver? Ill try it again and see what happens. |

Livesearch works fine so I know the GPS is working but I keep getting the error each time stating that it can't connect to the receiver. I've done reboots, etc. and have the com 4 set as well as the baud rate and turned off the bluetooth GPS option. Any ideas anyone? thanks! |
