So I posted this odd issue with Garmin a few weeks ago, where it was working fine and all, and then suddenly stopped working. When trying to open, the opening Garmin screen pops up but then abruptly closes before you get the "I agree" prompt. A hard reset worked fine... until this week when it started to not work again. When trying to uninstall Garmin, it shows a message regarding the registry for Garmin can't be accessed (or something to that effect) but reinstalling doesn't help. Anyone have this problem? I haven't messed with the Garmin registry settings manually, and the only recent change on my BJ2 has been setting up bluetooth for activesync. I guess I'll hard reset, but it would be aggravating to have to keep doing this periodically. Incidentally, my GPS has always worked out of the box without any hacks or hard resetting needed, and still works now with Gmaps and MLS.

I've had the same problem. I've owned Garmin XT since January and it's happend 3 or 4 times. I posted about this about a month ago (on either Howardforums or here, I can't remember), and nobody was having the same problem. Someone recommended I return it and get a new copy. I doubt that is a solution. I noticed prior to the latest failure (which required me to hard reset before using the product again), I had just installed Microsoft Live Search. Now I'm wondering if Live Search is causing problems. Do you have it installed on your device?

Edit: I just looked through my old posts. Here is the thread I started to discuss this topic.

Yeah... Apparently this causes problems with Garmin Mobile XT so I keep my Text Folder Clean as Possible.

Also, what Version of Garmin Mobile XT are you running?

Try Updating to the latest version if you're using an older one:
Garmin Mobile XT v42.0.50w<---Link
Note: If you do update to the lastest version of Garmin Mobile XT make sure to uninstall the Modaco GPS Unlock. This conflicts with any version of Garmin Mobile XT that comes with Intermediate Drivers.

I wonder if this has anything to do with SIM card freespace. I know that there have been several issues with text messages causing problems and erasing them solving those problems. I've had them myself. But I don't have enough of a technical understanding to see what else could possibly cause a conflict with these 2 items. Oh well, just a thought.

Yep, I have been totally frustrated with Garmin b/c it was not even running the program but I just deleted all my text messages and got it to work for the first time! Lame that text memory can cause this problem buut at least we have a solution now.
THANKS! This board rocks!

Blackjack II doesn't (by default) store text messages on the SIM Card. It's just a bug with something Garmin tried to do that isn't working right. They'll probably fix it sooner or later...but remember you don't need to delete the text messages, just move them to a different folder.
