Anyone got a P6500 yet? Just wondering what the deal is with the memory. Ships with 256mb internal, says option for 1gb, is this an add in? What type of card?

Also just wondering if the 2 sd slots are side by side or opposite each other?

Mine turns up tomorrow anyway - just wondering :-)

Got it and I love it! Build quality seems great. 1Gb is mass storage, seperate to the device's 128mb rom/ 128mb ram. SD card 1 access is on the top, SD card 2 on the right hand side, fingerprint sensor works well, seems to be a data access port on the back for add ons similar to alpine.

Kinda reminds me of the iPaq hx2750 in terms of shape.

Any q's?

It's 'rugged', not chunky....

Compared to recent HTC efforts feels very well built.

Aimed at couriers etc methinks. 3 mpx camera with autofocus can scan barcodes according to HTC, not found any software yet though.

Hmmm, the thought of a P6500 with a pair of 16GB SDHCs in appeals tongue.gif

The thing that scares me is it's considerably bigger than a kaiser! 3.5" screen is nice tho, shame it's not VGA.

Battery life is good, charged up in the car friday, lots of 3g data, GPS and wifi use, still showing 35% remaining. Not put anything in mass storage. Shame they couldn't have done one SD one micro SD or something - suppose adapters are available. Can't wait to see the add-ons for the SD slot etc...

Have to admit haven't made a voice call on it yet...feels odd as a phone TBH. Got a new Kaiser the day before, which feels cheap in comparison.

(Don't like the Kaiser TBH, flogged my Vario III as soon as it arrived last year. Gonna buy a replacement Hermes methinks...still love the form facotr. Really upset they gave me a kaiser in exchange.... ;)

Right, first issue...

Didn't get a low battery warning. Device just powered off. With the LCD this device uses, I didn't actually notice as it has a persistant memory type effect. The display was still there for a good 2 or 3 minutes, I just thought the backlight had gone off and it had frozen. Started to panic when it wouldn't soft re-set, plugged in the charger and it sprang into life after 30 seconds of the red charging light. Battery level 1% after booting. I've replicated it as well.

Grrrr.

Great phone otherwise so far.

So it has a different kind of LCD? Strange!

It looks very matte in use compared to other LCD's that kinda look gloss'n'shiny when backlit in use. It's easier for me to read in sunlight than my other PDA's.

Edit - Handset is touted as having an 'anti-glare' LCD by HTC:

http://www.htc.com/europe/product.aspx?id=15732

"The large 3.5" anti-glare screen enables images, media and data to be viewed with complete clarity. Combined with the auto-focus 3 mega-pixel camera which captures clear, sharp images, the HTC P6500 is perfect for 2D barcode and business card reader applications."
