Newbie here, I've looked around and can't find out what the controls are when I'm running Java games on my phone. Some work fine but games like Sim City I can't get out of the menus.
I have a Pantech PN-820, am I having problems because of the lack of full keyboard? Also where is a good spot to get free smartphone games (if theres a thread on this could someone point it out). I have pocket Nester (great program BTW) but it seems to eat my battery. And being unable to go diagonal makes some games a little more difficult than it should be. Thanks |

Thanks welcome to modaco you should ALWAYS check out my Bibles and guides - I've thoroughly answered your Q in the MIDlet Bible (a sticky thread) at http://www.modaco.com/content/smartphone-g...a-midlet-bible/ |

QUOTE you should ALWAYS check out my Bibles and guides - I've thoroughly answered your Q in the MIDlet Bible (a sticky thread) at http://www.modaco.com/content/smartphone-g...a-midlet-bible/ well... i think we just need method for midlet edit.. many of good games are not using our buttons properly - i am sure, that there are editors to change these... short info like this one: QUOTE Furthermore, you’ll surely be faced control problems. Depending on the MIDlet manager you use AND the game you’re trying to run, you will face sometimes severe control problems. Either the two softkeys won’t work (not even on Pocket PC’s, where you can also try to use the stylus to “press” them) or the D-pad / Action button, or both. Note that there are some solutions to this problem (particularly if you have a Smartphone (or an, in this regard, similar Pocket PC phone like the Asus A525) with a hardware phonepad). I’ve elaborated on these questions in a separate article HERE (cross-posted to PPCT, AximSite, XDA-Developers - 1, XDA-Developers - 2, XDA-Developers - 3, FirstLoox, BrightHand, HowardForums, SPT, MoDaCo, PocketGamer.org, PocketGaming.de). is just not enough... (well i think i need to read these,tho..). This post has been edited by nothin: Apr 25 2008, 12:53 |

short info like this one: is just not enough... (well i think i need to read these,tho..). Of course it's not sufficient - this is why I've devoted an entire article to this subject (see links above, in the excerpt you quoted) As a rule of thumb, your safest bet is Jbed. If it's compatible with a particular game, it qlmost surely won't have any problems controlling them. I know this: I've tested hundreds if not thousands of games under it. |

As usual, thats a good read, Menneisyys.
BTW Menneisyys, any chance you could help in kickstarting this forum back into life ? We really need a thread of desires and wishes for pocket emulators, and any sort of words from the authors, if they're still around. This would make a change from the many many 1-post whiners we are seeing lately, especially from the ones who continue to buy naff phones and expect miracles from these device's short comings. |
