I've been reading everywhere I can find and the answer does not seem clear. I have a Blackjack 2 and cant get either googlemaps or windows live to work. I tried it with and without the hack. On the default settings and on COM4. Can anyone help me out? At least point me in the right direction.

It works fine for me...without the "hack" I use Garmin Mobile XT and set the driver to MS Intermediate Driver, Sometimes it takes it a while to find, but it always does find it.

If you don't want to use that, try this: http://www.modaco.com/content/samsung-i617...ii/#entry869416

In one of those posts, there is a link for something called GPStest, download that and extract it to your phone, This actually is supposed to come with the phone, but is usually hidden (you can use Total Commander CE to find the file, Search Google for this program) once you install this, start the program and leave your device somewhere outside for a MINIMUM of 5 minutes. If it doesn't pick anything up, I would recommend exchanging the phone.

Hope it helps, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

These are my settings in Live Search, and it works fine (though it takes quite a while to lock in when you first launch the app. It's not designed to be launched and exited over and over). I don't use Google Maps, though, so I can't help you there. I don't have the hack installed.

What other GPS app that work for this phone that can store the map on the memory card beside Garmin Mobile XT?

That way no internet is required.

Yep, works great. It does take from 1 to 5 minutes to lock on to signals though. When i've needed it, it's been slow, when I want to show it to friends, it notoriously is fast, grrr.

Anyway, google and msn both work fine for me and I haven't seen the need for any others.

Incidentally i don't like msn in general but i love "live" for the voice searches and they have a more complete traffic report when u need to check it.

Google seems to still only follow the highways for traffic.

Because MSN live search is so complete, i just usually go to that one now

I have Garmin XT installed on a 8GB MicroSDHC that I bought off eBay for $25.00. It works wonderfully...and MAY take up a gig...I have TONS of music, pictures, and some videos and still have 3.5GB left.

Hope it helps,

CoPilot, TomTom, iGo etc all have their own maps.
Garmin comes on a card and you can't (officially) move it to a bigger card.
CoPilot 7 is my favourite but in the USA you have to by maps for the whole of the US so it makes it more expensive.

My problem (which I've read in a 1000 threads across the web now) is that I have no option to select the Intermediary Driver in Garmin Mobile XT. It scans the bluetooth for the garmin receiver with obviously no luck. Using GPStest works meaning my GPS is good, but even with that running it won't trigger Garmin to find the internal GPS. clue?

When I came across this error, I uninstalled the Modaco GPS unlock hack. Restarted the phone. Then, I reinstalled the hack, restarted the phone. Started up Garmin, and it automatically chose COM4 for me. I was stuck where you were before. Give my method a shot. At worse, you'll end up right where you started. At best, your GPS will now be functional.

If you do some Google searches you will discover that there is an "Unlock" procedure you need to follow to make Garmin Mobile XT software work with any GPS device. I don't remember the details, but I remember reading about it. If the procedure can be found and followed, it will result in a copy of Garmin Mobile XT that will work with the device in the BlackJack II. It works like a champ on mine.
