I am planing a week long trip to Mexico and want to avoid the big data bill I got last time I was there.

How can I turn off the data on the phone temporarily? I still want to use voice but just want GPRS off.

I searched and could not find an answer.

thanks

Your problem used to be a problem of mine too. Perfect solution for you is install the nodata.cab

It actually disables your DATA connection on toggles. Note that you have to turn your phone off (Wireless Manager) first when you toggle to OFF, your DATA connection couldn't be stopped while its already in use or connected. So that poses a little manual intervantion on your part. Toggling ON is no problem; you can do that on the fly, without turning phone off.

And another perfect use for this is if you have a WiFi connection at home. Turn your nodata.cab on and log on to your WiFi network, and that ensures that you're just using your own internet connection and not the GPRS service.

Hope this is helpfull.

I also use Nodata.cab and love it. I put the icon in my folder with other data programs (IE, Google maps, etc) because it was like a reminder to turn it on before I start the programs. It works great, give it a try.

This works great - Thanks.

I have another problem now. Just got my bill for my Mexico trip. There was a $98 charge for 6.55 MB of data via GPRS.

It turns out that when I crossed back into the US and turned my data on to check email, I was still roaming on the Mexico towers, even though I was in the US. Both show "Roaming" in the description so I did not know. T-Mobile did take off $25 off the bill, but said I should use a manual connection next time.

How can I chose "manual connection" with the BJII. I do not see it under start->settings->phone where it is on my other WM5-6 devices.

How do I manually chose a network with the BJII..
