Device(s): Asus M530w

Hello everyone! I just purchased an Asus Aries (M530w) smartphone. I'm new to WM6 so I have some questions in using it...

1. Is there any freeware that could easily display its available memory both in the phone and SD card? The only time I could see the available memory was everytime I would download something. A friend of mine suggested MyTools but I don't know if it works well with WM6 standard.

2. I'm planning to install a GPS software and it's also my first time to use it. Do I need to have my GPRS activated by my network provider before I could use the GPS?

3. Do I really need an antivirus or a firewall for my smartphone?

I 'd really appreciate all the help you could give me... Thanks in advance. biggrin.gif

1. Not used SP in anger for a period of time recently, so will have a scoot round and see what's about!

2. The M530w doesn't have GPS onboard...

3. NO! biggrin.gif

1) same as Paul - but I'll leave it to him to find you something.
2) No onboard GPS but will work fine with a BT receiver. Software such as CoPilot, TomTom or iGo will work fine as they store the maps on the device, some additional features such as CP Live or trafic do use GPRS but you don't need them for navigation. Google Maps DOES use GPRS as the maps are downloaded as you need them
3) NO, No, No! biggrin.gif

Thanks to all your advice! Will try these softwares. I was relieved by the idea that I don't need an antivirus for my smartphone. I bet it would take up a lot of memory in my storage card and probably hog my phone's system.

I was able to find where the available memory is displayed on my phone after tinkering on it for days... it was located in the "Settings --> About" portion. But I still have to press a lot of buttons just to get there... I tried Smartmonitor and the other homescreens that uses it as plug-in but wasn't satisfied enough on how my phone looks so I reverted back on a better-looking homescreen I recently downloaded.

I really hope Paul would find a good freeware app to display my phone's memory in a faster way. Anyway, many thanks again... You've all been such a great help. laugh.gif
