Greeting all. I'm newbie here and I wish everyone enjoyable time on Modaco.

My apology for not helping anyone yet and already asking for help. But I really need serious help over here.

THE PROBLEM:

I used GrandPrix and accidently flashed my Phone ROM using the PDA binary file. Now it's totally broken.

Here you can find more information about this problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...8917&page=5

I just tested the phone_hh2.bin and the flashing process still failed. I believe any other ROM won't work till there are some more "tweaks" to be done.

Here is the message I receive when trying to flash the phone_hh2.bin using GrandPrix:

Download failed!! Let me explain a little more details.

When I clicked on Detect, the phone was still on and it detected succesfully. and I saw the message "Switching USB to PHONE...".

The real problem is here:
1. When the updater says "Downloading PHONE...", the phone turned itself off.
2. The updater start shouting: "KW.KIM Create retry(25)" and then count down to (0).
3. Finally it's "Port Creation Failed".

Well, as mentioned eariler by the helper, and the problem maker, all updaters don't work.

As a note for KChauJen, the Modem Driver can be found and uninstall via Control Panel > Add & Remove Programs.

I give the screenshots for GrandPrix in action here. It's not necessary for other updater because the messages and triggers are exactly the same.

2. Change i900DX to suit for your Software Version, i.e. i900XX.
3. Update normaly."

... Thanks for this. I did as what you said but it's not working.

I tried this even though KChauJen reported he failed.

I guess it lies in the other data such as the original version of the PDA as well, not just the current version.

What I found in the exe file is all of the 3 occasion of i900DX all are i900DXGH4 which is the version of the updating ROM, not the ex ROM.

I already flashed the PDA using i900DXGH4_PDA.bin file. Unfortunately it's not updating using the i900DXGH4.exe anymore.

I guess I will have to flash i900DXGH3_PDA.bin using GrandPrix first, before I can attempt this official i900DXGH4.exe? So if anyone has, please upload it, I will deeply be in debt for all your helps.

Try flashing the Polish HH2 ROM, which includes HH1 radio, from here:

http://www.modaco.com/content/samsung-i900...re-version-fix/

Run the updater, then plug the phone in and press the reset pin to enable the 'Start' button.

For your problem in i900 service manual Samsung say:

*After you install “phone USB driver (Samsung CDMA Modem)” at first time, you m
ay see “Port open failed…” message or application hang while downloading a phone
image. If so, terminate the application and then try the download again.

* If USB port is changed, at first time you may see “Port open failed…” message or
application hang. If so, terminate the application and then try the download again.

* If USB cable to the mobile device is not connected tightly, you may see “Port ope
n failed…” message or application hang. If so, terminate the application and then try
the download again.

* If you always see “port open failed” message or application hang,

1. When failed application is activated, go to the device manager, remove the
SAMSUNG CDMA Modem and SAMSUNG USB Composite Device.
2. Rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\Modem.sys to other name. (ex. Modem-.sys)
3. Go to control panel->program add/remove, and then remove Samsung CDMA
ModemdriverorSamsungUSBdriver(MCCI)
4. Restart your PC.
5. Install attached SAMSUNG CDMA Modem_4.34
6. Try the download again.

If Polish HH2 doesn't work, try the Portugese ROM via GrandPrix... note for this IMG file you need to select the combined option.

I tried Text recommendation and downloaded those ROM updaters. They didn't work. I got the same Port Create Failed... message for each of them when it arrive at Phone part:

The Singapore updater still doesn't work due to "Incorrect Software Version".

Here is the latest help I receive from chaimd:

QUOTE
The other way, I found strings of "phone.bin" or "SD download Mode" in eboot.bin.
I think you can try below;

1. copy i900DXHG4_phone.bin into a microSD as "phone.bin"
2. set the microSD and power on your OMNIA

you can try with microSD format FAT16 or FAT32.
And perhaps, entering SD download Mode need some key combination with POWER key.

Good Luck

I will try this out. Does anyone know how to enter the SD download mode?

Hours ago I did the same thing to change the language of my Omnia i900 and I got the same error...

Everything was pretty OK, until Windows asked for 'Samsung CDMA Technologies' driver, so I clicked on "Automatically search (Recommended)", 1 sec after.. it shows "There's no software for your hardware" And then:

KW.KIM Create retry(1)
KW.KIM Create retry(0)
Download failed!!

I thought about it and i did NOT unplug the usb cable, that means my omnia was still showin the "Samsung Omnia" logo on display, so I extract the zip of "Samsung Driver XP" and clicked on "Back", clicked on "Manual Search", and choose the root of the drivers, then Windows installed it perfectly.
After that, I clicked on "Reset" (in the GrandPix tool) and it started all over again. I passed the KW.KIM problem and now I got my Omnia with new ROM.

I don't know if this would help you out.... but I think this will help others with the same problem.

Cheers.

I am having the exact same problem as the original poster except I never updated the ROM, mine has never been able to activate the phone part. So I tried doing the firmware update and thats when I discovered it cannot download the phone image. When ever you run an update everything works except step four and I get the same errors as O.P I have tried every suggestion on how to run the update process and its always the same. I even tried it without any Samsung modem driver installed and it still comes up exactly the same. When you look at the version in system settings it is currently listed as:
PDA : i900DXHJ1/DXHJ1
PHONE: DXHJ1

Something I'm currious about is that it always has the updated version of the pda same as phone even though it wasn't able to download the phone image and also I've seen people post their version on here and when its fully successful next to PHONE it is listed with the model number i900 just like PDA could this also be some indication as to what is going on with the ours that are failing?

I wanted to try and download this modem driver listed in the quote "4.34" but there is no attachment or link to download that specific modem driver. It is the only option I have not tried otherwise I've updated the firmware on this phone so many times now (attempted with three different modem drivers) I'm a pro now, but it still is not fixed. I used Grand Prix and had it only try to update the phone image as well and it is the same exact result it just skips the eboot, pda, and CSC image downloads since I don't specify files for those and so it just skips straight to trying to install the phone image and it won't work. This is driving me crazy I think the phone is just toast and I need to see how good and helpful this warranty service is, but please if anyone has any ideas what the problem is let us know. I'll be waiting a couple days for replies, but then I'm giving up and calling the warranty company.

I had the same problem. Radio wasn't working after rom upgrading. Sent the Omnia to a repair center and guess what...the whole board was replaced!
