Device(s): Omnia!

I was thinking it might be useful to have a little thread for those users who have got their Omnia's from Orange and are considering flashing their device. I then noticed that the query has already been raised in the sticky thread above, so I'm not alone in thinking this will be useful. I hope the info for the Orange Omnia's can be consolidated in here so when the great masses arrive there will be atleast a bit of guidance and some decent info!

If you have an Orange Omnia (ie. official UK stock) please post your flashing results. Did you follow Paul's sticky above, did you skip some steps, where did you start and how did you end up? What ROM version did you start with? etc. The more info the better.

My omnia will arrive from Orange tomorrow so I'll be more than happy to get things started once I have it opened and charged. In the meantime, I'm sure there are plenty of users on here who have already flashed their Orange devices, so speak up! I look forward to hearing from you.

Mine was from Orange, my device was Unbranded and unlocked, i cant say for certain all future I900's will follow the same rule as Orange will have taken an initial batch directly from samsung to speed up sales.

But anyways, i had to change my device to singapore (as per stickie)

Ran the xp .exe, job done

who is brave enough to give it a bash?

if anything goes wrong you could just take phone back to shop and get it replaced. they replace the phone with in the first 30 days if anything goes wrong dont they? obviously done say you were messing with roms!

So all you did was change your device to singapore (process here), then run the i900DXHH1_PDA_updater_xp.exe (found here)? I'm going to flash mine when it arrives tomorrow, so if you can confirm this worked for you then I'll carry out the same process to see if it works for me with my Orange Omnia.

Thanks

Hi guys smile.gif

I have a pre-release i900 from Orange which came with the HG5 ROM and I have successfully upgraded to HH1 using Paul's instructions. However the upgrade to HH1 would not work from the original HG5 ROM even after changing the region to Singapore, I had to flash the Portuguese ROM, then change the region and then do the update to HH1..!!

Interestingly enough after speaking to our technical pre-sales consultant at Orange, he informs me all new Omnia's will be coming with the new HH1 ROM "i900BVHH1" I should be getting an official copy off him some time soon smile.gif

Thanks

Andy

Well, that was very easy. All I had to do was charge it up, then change the region to singapore (as detailed in the sticky above), then I opened the i900DXHH1_PDA_updater_xp.exe, ticked the 2 boxes, and it did it's job! Voila!

It seems that Orange Omnia's can follow this super simple update process.

I changed straight back to UK after flashing. It caused no problems... but I can't see it making any difference either.

Check your firmware version, and if it isn't HH1 then it will be worth upgrading!

A little concerned. Managed to flash to the portugese version but now whenever i try and run 'i900DXHH1_PDA_updater_xp.exe' it just gived the invalid software version pop up, i have tried sever al reboots/resets but no change sad.gif

I received it today and came with the XXHG5 software.

Any thoughts?

EDIT - found Paul incorrect version fix and sorted, sorry for wasting your time wink.gif

You just need to change your location. Go to the sticky above about rom versions and you'll see the answer there.
