hi there

i have had my omnia for 2 days now and have trawled the web for answer but cant find one for my issue of having no wifi. i cant find anywhere to turn it on or activate etc or configure it. i want to use my wifi router here at home to use the internet etc.

i did find tho when i went to settings and version, that where the wifi parameters are there is nothing. ie where s/w, h/w etc are. there are parameters there for bluetooth and for the current radio and pda versions but nothing for wifi.

does this mean that there is a problem with the wifi adapter or is it a software problem?

just to note, i also get a device.exe error whenever the phone is soft reset. it says it has something to do with a jaguargspx.dll

any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks

So when you click Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Wireless Manager, WiFi is not shown? Have you tried a factory reset?

Can anything else see the wifi router?
A few weeks ago I lost Wifi all together in my home only the ps3 could see it but couldn't connect, I was blaming my phone at first but I found that there was Interferance from the TV digisenders I use for the kids.
Just a Suggestion

The error certainly seems to suggest it is linked to the WIFI, as the wifi card is listed as a SyChip Jaguar WLAN GSPI card. If you are getting the DLL error on startup, that could certainly explain the wifi not working.

As Paul suggests above, sounds like a hard reset is the way to go in order to reload the rom. If still no joy then its back to where you bought it I would think.

If you are still getting the dll error, that is almost certainly the cause of your problem.

I know next to nothing about reflashing, but it would appear that this is the next step - Paul is the expert on that.

Though reflashing when you clearly have some fault with the device may be a venture into the unknown. If you are able to take the phone back to where you bought it from, then that would probably be the first step I would proceed with. If the shop attempts to reflash and it goes wrong, then at least the responsibility is out of your hands.

i can see the aforementioned jaguar adapter when i go into settings, connection, network cards and can edit ip addresses and stuff but obviously nothing happens. im going to try a hard reset using the call+cancel+soft reset button now and then update.

im hoping not to have to send it back to the place i got it from as i got it from singapore sad.gif

Its certainly looking that way - though I am a relative newbie to the world of WM phones - I have been in IT for several years, and it is looking like a hardware fault, or at the very least a fault with the rom.

I would think the next step would be to re-flash the device - but in that respect I am a complete novice, and have not dared flash my own yet. Paul is the expert in this area and would know what questions to ask and which steps to take in reflashing your device.

well i just flashed to the latest official hh1 rom that Paul put on here before and it didnt help. i had also flashed from my original f8 rom to g5 then g4 (bec of my current prob so i thought i would go down to the official updated rom) then up to hh1. so yeah like you said it seems to be a hardware fault. better do some emailing it seems......

This is the first major fault i've heard for the omnia so far
