i have 6.1 installed, and garmin mobile xt. it has worked fine for a while, but lately, when i try to use Garmin, the GPS will lock on to my 'location' and it thinks im in the Dominican Republic (im in boston), and moving at absurd speeds (300+ mph) anyone else have this problem? ive noticed that Garmin have released an update, but i dont think that would have anything to do with the problem, would it?? any help would be great thanks!! |

What version are you running... If it's a 4.xxxx then you really need to update. The update combined with WM 6.1 will take care of that problem as well as many other. You'll also need to make sure that you're using the Intermediate Drivers and not COM4 once you update. Make sure you uninstall any GPS Hacks as they will conflict with the Updated program. Also make sure to keep you Inbox, Outbox, Sent, Deleted...ect as clean as possible. |

okay, so i fixed that whole 'register' screen now i just need a way to get the Garmin to find the GPS in my phone While in start-up screen highlight the picture of the GPS icon then click on it , next click on menu - disable GPS after that it will give you option to enable and will show a list of options (com 1-4 I think) select intermediate driver and you should be good to go. |

Like I said... make sure you uninstall all the GPS Hacks. Once you do this... turn off your phone. Wait a min or so and turn it back on. When you launch Garmin again, click on the little Icon on the top left of the home screen. You'll now see either a Blue Tooth, COM1-9 or Intermediate Drivers. If you have Intermediate Drivers already then you're all set. If it says COM4 or you're allowed to chose it from the Serial Port Menu then you didn't uninstall the GPS Hack Properly. Any version 5.xxx and above DO NOT REQUIRE COM4 SO NO HACK IS NEEDED!!! Let me know if this fixes the problem for you. Worse case scenario... you'll have to do a Format of WM6.1 and start all over again like if it were a clean install. make sure my inbox, outbox, and sent are clean? you mean for SMSs?? would that really cause this sort of problem? thanks for the help! Yes, it will cause a whole bunch of problems like software LAG... what you currently have and the Calculating of routes will take way longer too. Before you even try this... Did you check to see if in the GPS setting... it still allows you to chose COM4 or Not? If you still have COM4 as an option then you didn't uninstall the GPS Hack Properly. Let me know if you did this as well as cleaned up your SMS and I mean all the folders. Lets try all other avenues first before Performing A Full Reset .

If you see COMM4 as a possible selection then you still haven't uninstalled the GPS Hack Properly. You really need to comfirm this before moving on. Yes you can always take out the MicroSD and uninstall Garmin... then when you reinsert the SD Card it will ask you to install Garmin again. Remember to always reboot the phone after every install or uninstall... just good practice. So basically. 1. Remove Micro SD Card and uninstall Garmin from phone. 2. Reboot phone. 3. Install Micro SD and accept the install for Garmin on your phone. 4. Reboot phone. 5. Now you should be good to go. 6. Make sure to be outside when you first launch Garmin so you won't confuse the hell out of it...LOL If this doesn't work then you might have to Perform a Complete Reset to really start from scratch. |

I did a hard reset and installed 6.1 Live Search and Google Maps can see the internal GPS just fine. The new Garmin software works fine with my bluetooth GPS but I've tried everything in this thread and Garmin still says it will only work with a Garmin GPS unit. I eventually get a dialog asking if I want to use another GPS device...when I say yes, I get the bluescreen about only working with Garmin again.
Any ideas? |

Are you running the latest version: Garmin Mobile XT v5.00.10<---Link You might have to reenter the Key if you continue to get that message. That means that you have a retail version that hasn't been unlocked with the Key yet. It should ask you for the key again. Did you have it on a MicroSD with WM 6.0. If so then you most probably got the same problem I had with mines. For some reason when I updated to WM 6.1 I was asked for the key again on install. Apparently with the update... my MicroSD ID Number changed. Hope this helps. |
