I managed, rather cleverly, to drop my SPV on the floor this morning from a height of about a foot . Result - while attempting to run GNUBoy I get a message that "gnuboy.exe could not be found". I thought my (updated) SPV had re-certed itself but checking the SD in ALL-Explorer showed that my SD card was totally corrupt, with directory names like "nm[]4'[][][]#"£[]" that couldn't be opened. I'm pretty sure it was becuase I dropped the phone, as I was listening to wmas on the card before I dropped it. A few hours of grappling with WinHex's file restorer and I have restored the contents of my SD, but i'm going to have to be much more careful with my SPV now! Weirdly I could mount the card in Windows or on my SPV, and save data to it, but just not access anything already on it - presumably the file index was corrupted somehow as i've got 99% of the data back.
I thought that SD cards, being solid state, were very durable, but perhaps this isn't the case. Or could it be that my SPV managed to write some garbage to the card when it was dropped? Any suggestions - is it time for SPV number 3? Mind you, my screen has got dust under it, so maybe a replacement isn't such a bad idea... -------------------- Andy

Mine sometimes displays garbage when the battery is low, the only way to fix is to recharge. How low was your battery? Also did you try taking it out and reinserting it?

Almost full battery, but the card was screwed in my SD reader too, so I don't think it was that!

from the Sandisk website:
"Operating shock rating of 2,000Gs, equivalent to a 10-foot drop to the floor" I presume it's the same for all SD Cards, hhmmm.... -------------------- "It has to be said that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly's wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world"

I tried reinserting it, blowing in the card slot, polishing the SD card contacts and a power cycle and nothing worked! Like I said, it works now, but only because I've formatted it and started again - I think the actual data on the card was corrupted.
