As you can see here...

http://www.modaco.com/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=925345

...we can now cook custom ROMs (many thanks to all who helped us get to this point).

The question is, what do we want in / out? biggrin.gif

I'm currently thinking...

IN

.net Framework 3.5
Performance Tweaks
AppToDate (for update notifications)

OUT

.net Framework 2.0
Shozu (newer version is available as CAB!)

Should anything else be removed? Transcriber? Move some of the things such as RSS Reader / Podcasts to CABs? Google Maps to a CAB to allow 'My Storage' install?

Discuss! biggrin.gif

Since flash lite 3+ the latest Opera were both cooked into the rom, we cannot uninstall them and install their new versions. So we cannot take the full advantage of the flash lite 3, etc. video sites like youtube in Opera. So I think these ones should be updated.

Don't think that AppToDate in ROM is a good idea or you think that you will not release newer versions?

You will make us a big favor to the extend that I will be ready to donate, if you make it easy to uninstall many of the programs listed in the main menus , ALL of us does not use some of them :
Touch player - FM radio - Internet -photos slides - media album - ms office components - ....
also if you can treat some of the problems found, like not able to use the BT headset with the voice dialer.

many thanks in advance .

what i think should be out are:
-google launcher
-google maps (install in My Storage)
-help
-IE
-Main Menu
-Messenger
-Podcast
-RSS Reader
-Shozu
-smart Converter
-Video Editor
-Windows Live

by the way, can all the removed files be converted into individual cab for installation later on?

take out EVERYTHING and make all apps (if possible) available as cabs.

The Custom ROM can then be a bare bones OS (with tweaks) and people can install what they want, how they want.

how about a slim rom? anything that can be remove will be removed, and the removed apps will be available via cabs?

It's gonna be tricky, cos everyone want's different things!

My first ROM will just be what I need - most things left in, but size optimised, performance optimised etc...

And my biggest pain: ClearType disabled by default! Or, at least, remember the setting after soft-reset.

Agree with you Paul.

Would also like to request working bluetooth drivers to enable full functionality of Microsoft Voice Command.
