Hi,

I have just brought a Orange SPV(Original) at ebay. (Hasnt arrived yet). Anyway, I presume that it wont have the latest firmware on it. I have downloaded the latest firmware 1.61 from oranges website allready.

What will I need to do to update the SPV properly. Will I need to back up the settings, if so, how?

Then I want to application unlock the SPV, I dont get a good signal at home, 1 bar if i'm lucky. How do I do this?

I will be using a Orange SIM card.
I have active sync 4.8

Also i have downloaded a file called 'unlock-all.zip' from another known website, what is this program, what does it do?

Thanks very much

Sky

i doubt that wink.gif

no you dont have to back anything up before running hte update (as you wont have any of your own stuff on the phone)

all you need is activesync installed and the cradle to connect the phone to the pc.
Run the update file, it has instructions

as for app unlock after you visit the developers site on the pc put your phone in the cradle and open the internet on your phone, the phone will share your internets connection.

Is this right?

So I go to the orange developers site (which I have the link for) select unlock, they will send me the txt message, then I put phone in cradle and open the internet on the phone so that the application can unlock?

I dont get a signal by my computer, so can I receive the text message from somwhere else in the house where I can just get a signal and then connect the phone to the cradle?

Thanks

you dont recieve a text, its done via data transfer, so you either use gprs or share your pc's connection

No, sensible question.
You will get a screen on your phone telling you that the security has been disabled.
That's it !

Given that you can access the internet on your phone through the AS connection then, logically, the answer is yes.
But, hey ! I'm an accountant so I could have got it wrong wink.gif

EDIT: Please post in the relevant sections - which device do you want to unlock as you've posted the same question in the HTC universal PPC section.
