Hi there, Ive just got my new Diamond Touch through but there doesnt seem to be any instructions booklet with it!

Ive got the Orange 13 things booklets and a one page QuickStart quide which is four points. Insert Sim, Charge, Register and thats about all it tells you!

Ive just fathomed out the way the charger all plugs into each other and wondered whether it charges quicker via the USB2 socket or plugged into the proper mains?
How long should I leave it charge before using?
Does the phone charge even thought it's 'off'? My previous phones still gave an indication that it was charging even if powered off!
Do I need to power up the phone to start charging?

Right that's my idiot questions so far!

Do I need to update the ROM and get some other stuff on my phone or shall I play with it for a while and see if Im happy with it?

Many Thanks

Idiot Lee.

Lee,

There are no printed instructions. The instructions are in a pdf file on one of the CDs, which are in the lid of the box that your phone came with.

It charges quicker from the mains (which is 1A) than the USB (0.5A), also if you have it plugged into the USB with ActiveSync and backlight on it is much slower to charge, so once sync'd it is a good idea to turn the phone off to charge.

When it is charging there is a gently pulsing light, this turns to steady when fully charged. This is the same when powered off.

Regarding ROM updates, it's a good idea to look around this and other forums to find out what ROM updates have worked for them, and what benefits they have noticed before deciding whether to go ahead. There are also risks if the updating goes wrong.

It will probably charge in 2 or 3 hours, as the battery will ship partially charged.

Arguably you can even use it during charging, but best to err on the side of caution I guess.

Rather than start loads of new threads for every brick wall I come up against I thought I'd put my latest issues here! (there could be a few!)

I cant seem to connect to any internet connection via the phone and was expecting some sort of wi-fi access aswell!

I have my own (protected) wi-fi network in the house and wondered if I could utilise this in the house and then use external wifi and Orange GPRS for anything else?

Thanks

There is both. What phone do you have, which network, and what's the signal like where you are?

Yes, that's how it works if you enable wi-fi. It should pop up and give the choice to connect to it, along with any other networks in the area, then you enter the key and connect. Wi-fi traffic should then get the priority over GPRS.

Ho ho, I've had my Diamond for 3 weeks now- box was even in the attic- and didn't know about these CDs. I thought it was a bit lame on the instruction side of things! biggrin.gif

LOL its wasnt only me then!

BTW ive loaded the disk and still cant find any instructions on there. Ive run the application and also browsed the disk but nothing to be found! I downloaded the Asia instruction booklet from the net instead!

Just as an update it seemed my phone was faulty so it got sent back and a replacement has now turned up and all is working well!

There are only a few thigns that annoy me! :-

1) When the phone is in the wallet and someone rings the screen is activated and either Asnwer or Reject are pressed whilst taking the phone out of the sleeve - which is really annoying. Why cant the screen be deactivated until you press another button on the side or even have one side of the sleeve clear so you can press either button before taking it out of the sleeve?

2) Audio volume/quality. The audio quality via the headphones doesnt seem to have much bass and is quite tinny. Ive tried changing the Audio Booster app and it has little effect. Is the quality of audio really that bad? I dont think it was that bad with the first Diamond Touch I recieved (but had to send back!)

Essentially thats it!

LOL too, I've been fiddling with settings all over the place, read this thread and subsequently found the CDs in the top of the box. Are you sure you've looked on the manual CD? My box has 2 CDs, one with the "Getting Started" sofware and on which only has the PDF manual on it...

good luck!

I had this problem - spent a good hour trying to work out why!!! Make sure that you shut down Media Player if you have it open and navigiate to the Home Screen - then Start / Programs / Audio Booster (make sure the headphones are plugged in whilst you do this). When Audio Booster opens uncheck the box to switch it off and then come out of it.

Go back to Media Player or the Touch Flow player and start playing your track (you should already notice a difference in sound quality). Then from the Menu in Touch Flow, select Audio Booster and switch it back on - hey presto, quality sound!

Even after flashing with the new HTC ROM I still find this to be a problem, but knowing how to solve it, it's not too much of a bind...

D00d... so glad you posted this! It was driving me NUTZ... just got my touch diamond today, and one of the main reasons I got it was because I've found the audio processors in the predecesors REALLY good (i.e. 6 times better than my iPod touch), the bass and sound quality far surpasses any other audio device I've ever had - even on the stock headphones!

So I tried it out, and the sound was awesome... and then go to try again tonight and the sound is like something from a gramophone walkman from the 1920's!! I tried another pair of MiniUSB headphones (same problem), tried charging the device thinking it was out of power... nothing... tried turning on and off, taking battery out, resetting the device... NOTHING...

It seems really random?? Like the audio processor gets jammed or something?? Anyway... seems 'recoverable' - not sure if the above is really the solution, as I turned on once more after turning off again, and it was ok... checked running programs and nothing... Just generally seems like you've got to make sure the Audio Enhancer is OFF, then clear everything out the RAM and turn it on again... at least it's not just me rolleyes.gif

HTC should DEF sort that glitch out...
