Right,
I have just treated me self to a 32" hd tv...its made by vistron and its running a samsung panel and philips tv tuner etc etc etc... I have my xbox connected through that YBPGP connection thingy (not sure if the acronym is right tho) and my goodmans freeview reorder connected through scart and my DVD piggy backing off that also via scart! My problem is that my xbox box picture is crystal clear...the TV ont he other hand sucks...if i factory reset the tv then it becomes crystal clear but as soon as i turn the box and the telly off the shading on the walls and sky and other light areas become appauling...it pixelates like a mofo. I have played with all the settings on the telly and nothing improves it...the box and the cables worked fine on my old CRT tv so is it possible that i need to update my cables?? cheers, M -------------------- Muay-Thai...The Art And Science Of Eight Limbs Keep Death Off The Road...Drive On The Pavement |

I assume you mean you loop the DVD player through your Freeview tuner? Firstly I would disconnect that, and connect either the Freeview OR DVD player directly to the TV with one of your cables to your SCART socket (it only has one SCART input on the TV?). Check both sources with one cable then check both sources with the other cable.
Pixellation could be down to low signal strength but since it is fine when you first reset it it sounds like your cabling should be fine. The worst case scenario is the ADC (analogue digital convertor) is b0rked - might explain why the problem builds up slowly. Seems very common on cheap TVs although normally shows up as a lack of sound/video sync. How is the picture off-air, i.e. via an analogue aerial feed directly into the TV? |

Ok ....
HD TVs ... look amazing for HD quality broadcasts. However sometimes SD signals can look worse than their counterpart on a CRT monitor. It's best to connect each device with HDMI if possible, then if not component (as with the Xbox). -------------------- --

Its weird because 90% of the colour is fine, its just things like greys and sky blues that seem to mess up....black is perfect black and white is pearly! When i plug the ariel straight into the TV the pictue is crystal on all levels, which leads me to believe that the TV doesnt liek the freeview box...but its not like its a down market one, paid top wonga for it - on the side...liking the B0RKED term lol -------------------- Muay-Thai...The Art And Science Of Eight Limbs Keep Death Off The Road...Drive On The Pavement |

SCART is bidirectional so on some boxes you can swap the input and output around and it still works, however the electronics don't seem to like it and this can lead to weird effects. |

Dont think so, from what i can remember (the box is at home, im at work) the scarts are clearly labled for AUX and TV. will check it out after the gym tonight. -------------------- Muay-Thai...The Art And Science Of Eight Limbs Keep Death Off The Road...Drive On The Pavement |

As already mentioned, low def can look really rubbish on "cheaper" high def tv's.
I cannot believe that a goodmans freeview box is going to give a very good pic and the electronics inside the tv need to try to artificially fill in the gaps... and unless its a really really good tv, then it isnt going t manage. I am afraid you get what you pay for and you will need to wait til all the channels are hd to really b happy - about three years I am afraid. Oh and as the visitron has built in freeview, make sure you aren't watching through the goodmans when you dont need to. -------------------- HTC Diamond running Dutty's V1.6 rom.
