I've got a problem with no programs being able to see the internal GPS, and most will lock or crash the phone when trying to connect to GPS.

I've tried various settings for the com ports (sotware and hardware ports) but still nothing

I've also downloaded the HTC GPS Tool program, but this does not find any GPS connection at all.

Any ideas?

yeah GPS is funny on the Diamond.. the Hardware port is 'hidden' i am unable to connect directly to it with any app..

1. you have to let windows manage the connection
2. set hardware port to com4 4800 baud
3. Set software port to Com2
4. when you try and get a fix go outside smile.gif

now try with HTC GPS tool set to com2 4800 baud

hope this helps!

I used Google Map (with GPS on) and iGO8 without any problems. Both have discovered and used the internal GPS. There are random issues with iGO8 that seems to loose connection with the GPS device every second or so, but after a restart is working fine. This could be also due to the fact that I've messed up with the program settings in order to make it work on Diamond (that has no memory card as iGO8 requested)

If possible, don't touch the GPS settings at all. If your apps cannot find it, then its likely the settings have been mucked around with.

A hard reset will fix it - and mean re-inputting all your other settings.

Google Maps and Copilot Live found mine without any tweaks - and I cannot believe the fix speed!

Update: I've also tested Garmin XT Mobile and it's working OK even with it's internal GPS. Maps are downloaded to the Diamond from Mapsource as with any Garmin GPS device. Program is so far stable and even it does not have so many capabilities as the new iGO8, I found it easier to use, better voice guidance, better maps and routing. Still there is a matter of taste which one to use

I could not stand another day of faffing about, so I just did a hard reset, and now it is fine ..... for now.

I tried virtually all the possible com port settings, and HTC GPS tool would only open com port 3 and 7 - but would not do anything else.

The only issue now, is the 3rd degree burn mark in my palm from the heat when GPS is used ohmy.gif

I have just bought the other half a copy of coilot live 6 on ebay for £25.

I know 7 is out, but £25 for a full turn by turn (inc speed cameras) is a result.

Try running WiFi and GPS at the same time (using something like Navizon) - now that does get hot.
