 disabling 3G? cant find a way. (Pantech Duo)

is there a registry edit for disabling 3G? I want edge always enabled, 3G sucks where I live. I only know how to switch from 3G to edge on my Tilt using the comm manager, but on the pantech duo the comm manager doesnt have this feature, and a few other comm manager's I've installed it didnt disable 3G, cuz it wasnt meant for smartphone..
