Is there any way I can stop the Omnia from switching itself on all the time as it keeps doing so even though I lock it and press the button at the top.

Is there any way I can stop the Omnia from switching itself on all the time as it keeps doing so even though I lock it and press the button at the top. Dunno. I have a similar problem perhaps. I find that holding down the "end" key locks the device like it's supposed to. But if if hold it down again, the phone unlocks itself. Not much of a lock then really. If I leave the phone long enough it eventually goes to sleep and I can then only wake it up with the power button, which is an improvement. But at least it doesn't unlock itself! Does yours do this? May be the same problem. I've got SPB shell running. May be something to do with this. I've tried ALL the settings in WM and SPB that I can see. Hoping that flashing the phone may get rid of the problem. Perhaps I'll tell you later today - if I haven't bricked it that is..... |

Yeah, if you remove the battery ... then you won't have any problems with it turning on. Ok, in the Settings section, you can tell the omnia which buttons do which tasks. For example, I found that I ONLY wanted the Power Button to turn the omnia on. I also remapped some of the keys, so that the apps button if long pressed brings up task manager. The down button for a long press puts the torch on. The camera button short press turns the camera on, and long press brings up the album. Ive set it so the call answer and hangup buttons do not bring it out of standby. Currently however SMS messages wake up the device, as do low battery warnings or appointment notices. So if the phone isnt locked then it will activate in my pocket and be prone to random presses. Thus best thing to do is get into the habit of long holding the end key, so it locks the device prior to going into sleep mode. -------------------- --

Hi there.
i have a similar problem with my German T-Mobile i900. I have already switched off all notification bubbles, my power button is the only way to switch it on manually, when it is in standby - but if my device changes the provider cell or net type, it wakes up from standby. With a switched off phone the device remains in standby until i press the power button. T-Mobile Germany told me to send the device back and receive a new one. Has anybody had the problem and did a firmware upgrade? I can't do it by myself, because I have running Windows Vista and the next service Point is unreachable for me without a car and i have none... I reflashed my phone Wednesday to H1. Went OK although I can't restore progs and settings because Sprite Backup can't see enough memory and tells me to free some up. That's another story coming on. I can't figure out where to free up memory because the file structure is odd - the main, internal storage and external card areas are not easy to discriminate. In settings>memory>main, I have only 2.9M free "Storage" memory and Sprite refuses to do a restore. And of course, SPB, satnav etc no longer work. Perhaps SK Tools will be able to help me figure it out.... However, bottom line is that the phone still locks when you hold the end button down "long". And it still unlocks again if you then hold the end button down. I've changed the settings so it hibernates at the drop of a hat and requires the power button to be pressed but I'd like to be able to unlock it using the touch screen. And be able to lock it securely by pressing the end button. Dream on. |

Hi.
I don't know if anyone is interested in this problem, but my provider has now swapped my device. Regarding to the switching on issue nothing changed, the problem still persists. I have tried to switch off the call diversion, but not yet the DataConnections. This will be my next step. The last step will be a new SimCard. It would be great when some of you could keep an eye on your Omnia when it is in standy mode while you're travelling by car or by train, to see if all devices switch on automaticly or just a few. A short statement with your settings (voicebox on/off, dataconnections on/off, etc.) might help me to find the root of my problems. I would be very sad if i had to send the Omnia back to my provider, because i have waited a long time for it - and except of this issue it is a really great device! kind regards..
