Device(s): Samsung Omnia

Hi

I just wondered about people's experience of Samsung Service Centres, if they've had to use one.

I bricked my first Omnia the other day, with the official HI3 update. As I was reluctant to phone Orange, I phoned Samsung instead and established that there were two service centres near my work in London.

These service centres were next to useless. Both were Carphone Warehouse, both said that they couldn't fix the Omnia because the phone was too new and they didn't have the tools. They said that they would have to send it back to Samsung and instead advised I should send it back to Orange.

Of course, not having the tools to do the job may not be their fault, in which case it was moderately annoying that Samsung sent me there. As it turned out, Orange replaced the phone without a quibble.

Now I really want to have a crack at upgrading to a new firmware as I'm still on HG5 but don't want to be in a position where I can't remedy a bricked Omnia within good time at a local service centre.

Could people advise if their experiences are the same, and if they had a local service centre that could do the job on-site?

Cheers
