Been a while since I last posted here biggrin.gif

I recently got a brand new HP IPAQ 614C - Business Navigator. Very good phone, solid, fast etc. One problem though that appeared after 2 days of use: Over bluetooth, voice calls sound extremely distorted. Anybody here has the same problem?

Currently the HP live support is unable to help because, the phone is new and they don't know a lot of things about it.

Ok let me know because I've read that many other ipaq users have similar problem and no solution has been found. This is very annoying I'm actually thinking to return this device as I use it 98% over bluetooth for phone calls

The HP iPAQ 600 Series that you are using is recently introduced in the market and I do not have sufficient resources and training on this particular product. However, I can go ahead and assist to troubleshoot this issue on a best effort basis. Shall we go ahead with the troubleshooting? Please let me know

As I understand, you get a disturbance on the phone while using Bluetooth ear phone. Am I right?

yes

[Thursday, April 10, 2008 11:23 AM] -- Prathap S says:
Was it working fine before?

[Thursday, April 10, 2008 11:25 AM] -- Paris Argyrides says:
It was working fine for the first bluetooth phone call. Then it got distorted. Other friends reported distortion problems after one week of use, two weeks of use, etc. Is it possible to find out if a bluetooth stack update will be released?

[Thursday, April 10, 2008 11:26 AM] -- Prathap S says:
I understand your concern.

[Thursday, April 10, 2008 11:27 AM] -- Prathap S says:
Have you checked the iPAQ performance with the other Bluetooth headset?

[Thursday, April 10, 2008 11:30 AM] -- Paris Argyrides says:
I tried 4 different bluetooth headsets. Same thing.

[Thursday, April 10, 2008 11:30 AM] -- Prathap S says:
Okay.

[Thursday, April 10, 2008 11:35 AM] -- Prathap S says:
What is the Bluetooth headset that you are using?

[Thursday, April 10, 2008 11:37 AM] -- Paris Argyrides says:
I'm currently using an O2 Bluetooth headset. I checked with a Sony Ericsson & a motorola one (don't remember model though). Parrot CK3100 in-car bluetooth acts the same.

563 views and nothing.. on other forums the very same issue has been reported as well. As you can see from the chat I had with HP support, they don't have a clue about it. I'm hoping in a ROM update that will address this issue.

hi

its been a while since i posted last...
anyway this really works...

shutdown all apps
take battery out (dont turn phone off)

wait for 5 secs
reassemble and try your headset.

its a bit quiet but much better
also check your ipaq audio settings, audio out set as default, mic - make sure AGC is off

Yup..The solution found from HP's website:

DESCRIPTION
A fizzing noise is heard and the volume turns very low when using a Bluetooth headset to make or answer calls on the HP iPAQ 600 Business Navigator series device. This may occur if the Automatic Gain Control (AGC) is enabled on the device.

SCOPE
Information in this document applies to the listed systems configured as follows:

Systems:

HP iPAQ 610 Business Navigator

HP iPAQ 610c Business Navigator

HP iPAQ 612 Business Navigator

HP iPAQ 612c Business Navigator

HP iPAQ 614 Business Navigator

HP iPAQ 614c Business Navigator

Operating Systems:

Microsoft Windows Mobile 6

RESOLUTION
To reduce the noise, disable the Automatic Gain Control (AGC) on the device. Follow the steps to disable the AGC.

Tap Start > Settings > System > iPAQ Audio > Mic .

On the Microphone screen, clear the Enable AGC check box.
