I know a number of people have reported fast battery drain with HH1/HH3, while others (myself included) have found it absolutely fine.
Now, this weekend I have been in an area of very weak reception, with barely a sniff of 2G and 3G. In these circumstances, the battery has been depleted super-fast. Is this something others have seen? P -------------------- Paul O'Brien - Microsoft MVP, Mobile Devices, MoDaCo.network Founder. in my building at work I get no signal.. this is part of the problem.. the battery goes in a matter of hours... my e650 used to last 3-4 days with this scenario even with text and phone call use.. I'm regretting getting the samsung and am seriously thinking of getting something different from orange or selling on ebay and using my e650 for another 20 months...

Are you on HH3 radio? I would suggest switching radio to HG5 with HH1 pda and seeing how that works out for you?

yep came from hg5 radio to hh3 radio hoping to improve things but it didn't.. I tried re-flashing hh1 pda as well today and has made no difference. there seem to be more and more people complaining of poor battery life with this phone on here now so it's not just me.. I originally had xxhg5 for both and that was not good, went to HH1 & Hg5 not good, then HH1 & hh3, still not good.. I strongly believe that there seems to be perhaps two differing versions of the phone around, perhaps components used in manufacture etc. and it seems to be that the orange versions, (hg5 shipped) seem to be the ones that have poor battery life out of the box...

No, I think it's just some people don't regular experience the real problem condition, i.e. next to no reception.
I mean, until I came away this weekend and stayed in a hotel with near zero reception, i'd never seen such a drain... P -------------------- Paul O'Brien - Microsoft MVP, Mobile Devices, MoDaCo.network Founder. Check out my Blog! £10 off a £20 spend at eXpansys - click for details |

I'm not too sure it's the signal alone that's causing the battery drain. When I first got the phone it was on HG5 for both phone and pda. I work 12 hour nights and was pretty much messing about with it all night (new toy and all that lol) and went home with some charge left in it. I then put HH1/HH3 on it over the weekend and before I came to work it was fully charged. I sent a couple of txt, had half hour phone call, and maybe messed about on it for 20 mins or so. It lasted a grand total of about 6 hours!
Think I'm gonna do what someone suggested and put HG5 phone back on and see if makes any difference. Only problem is I'm busy for next couple of days so gonna have to carry charger round with me all day lol I'll let you know how it goes when I get round to refashing it. Cheers |

First of all, it hink there are too many threads talking about the same problem. i suggest we keep it to this one.
Combinations of Roms i have tried H1/G4, H1/G5, H1/H3, and reflashed H1/H3. Battery problems already exist when i was on H1/G4, so i don't think it's a radio rom problem. Battery life seemed to have improved after reflashed, but nowhere near G4 standards (24 hours compared to 40 hours, same programs/usage). I'm gonna go back to G4 with H3 radio after full charge. Will post my findings later. |

I'm on H1/G4 and batt life seems to be just as good as when i was on G4/G4.
Have my 3G and bluetooth, haptic feedback turned off. lasts me bt 40hrs give and take depending on my usage. Usually many in/out calls, lots of msging, a bit of photo-taking and surfing. Set is from Singapore Starhub. My 2nd/spare set hung after i flashed H1/G4. Duno why 1 set can, another cannot. Both flashed in same way. Now it's in Samsung Care Centre. |

Not sure why, but as I had the feeling I was not getting good battery life (and my Omnia seems to heat up considerably around the SIM card part), I just upgraded from HH1/HG5 to HH1/HH3...
I know that some people are doing exactly the opposite, but if I read Paul and Hendrickson, they are fine with HH1/HH3, so I hope I will get the same Really looking forward to the next official Samsung release... this kind of risky updates is not good for my health |

I've not had chance to reflash anything since last night yet so still on H1/H3. I did however soft reset when I got home this morning then plugged charger in then went to sleep. This time last night my battery had gone down to about 60%. tonight it's still on 100%!
So fingers crossed the soft reset has sorted things out and it's a lot easier then reflashing |

Is the H1 Radio available as a separate item to flash ?
Seems to me it would be a good idea to try H1/H1... |
