The Toshiba G500 is supposed to switch automatically from GPRS/UMTS when it feels the presence of WiFi and viceversa. As a matter of fact, if I surf the web using WiFi and then try to use GPRS (out of WiFi coverage), it doesn't connect and a message tells that the settings are wrong. The settings are indeed OK, and I've found out that the way to fix things is to reboot the phone. I wrote to the Toshiba help center, but no reply. This is, in my opinion, a bug, and I wonder if there's a way to fix it for good (my "method" is rough).

I got this a few times too. Mostly on the first/second day of owning the G500. Which network are you with? Sometimes it really is down to bad signal. Could you explain more about the actual message you get regarding the settings being wrong?
