Can anyone tell me how to name my phone so that the name in ActiveSync is something I choose and not Smartphone. With my i700 I am about to go into System - About - Device ID - Device name. Is there anyway to do this?

Without deleting the current partnership...create a new partnership. It will say a partnership exists with that name already and prompt you to put in a new one.

There is also a registry tweak that I'm trying to find but that wont do you any good as you cant load RegEdit onto your phone. (at least I can't...you can try).
