Having an XDA2 as a secod phone?, Losing data when changing sim card?

Hi, I have a C500 at the moment but am thinking of getting a XDA2.

What I want to know is, when you take the sim card out of an XDA2 (and the battery im guessing) wont you lose all the settings etc from the phone?

This is important for me as I would want to swat the sim in and out of both phones (like when i go out for a night I wouldn’t want to take the xda2)?

Can anyone confirm this and/or tell me if you think it would be a big/annoying problem?

I have an M2000 (main phone) and an E200 (which i plan to upgrade) and often do as your suggesting. These PPCs are designed not to lose power and so shouldn't really have the batteries pulled on them. However, there is a small battery built into the M2000 which means if you replace the battery quickly (within say, 30 seconds) you shouldn't lose any data and i'm pretty sure this is the case for its predecessor the XDAII. I have never lost any data when changing the sim card over, but others on this forum apparantly have. My advice would be that if you do switch the sim card between two phones make sure you take off the battery, remove the sim card and replace the battery, then power up the device again as quickly as possible, and always make a system backup on either an SD card, or your PC regularly. My M2000 came with a backup utility (xbackup) and i presume the XDAII would, or that you could get a programme online easily.

The alternative to switching sims is to use a another sim card, such as payasyougo in one device and divert calls to your main number. However, this would mean that on the phone with the payasyougo sim you would need credit to make call, txt etc. Apparatnley some network providers allow two sim cards for one mobile number and you key in some kind of code on the devices according to which sim card you are using at a given time. I don't know weather there is a cost involved in this final option or which providers offer the facility, all i know is that orange don't, at least at the moment.....

The main thing is to ensure you have a reasonable charge level in the internal battery and by rights you should be O.K - as per last post though, a backup should always be made if you cannot afford to lose the data on a device irrespective of whether you SIM swap or not.
