 Bluetooth again I'm afraid, M1000 A/S 3.8 Widcomm dongle query

I have a bluetooth USB dongle, this worked great with my old SPVe200 and my partners C500. I have upgraded to the M1000 (great phone - much maligned) this also worked surprisingly easily - until I flashed the ROM then the connection could not be made. I upgraded to activesync 3.8 because of its greater support for bluetooth but still no joy. I've installed and re-installed the drivers several times and paired and re-paired from handset and from PC. I've even tried changin the COM port but to no avail.

When I try to use the b/t set up from the pc to search for a serial device it recognises my phone but then says that it doesn't offer such a service.

Has any one got an M1000 with the latest ROM (with MMS) who can help me sort this. Ive read about twenty guides but none seem to cover this phone and its lack of a configuration menu.
