I have been thinking about getting a Jam (or one by another name) for a while now when my contarct ends with orange in june.

The cheapest option seems to be T-Mobile
The main concern i have is that i am worried about the Network, i have been under the impression for about 2 years that T-Mobile are not a very good network, i have heard a few things regarding service levels and signal strengths.

I would be grateful if anyone had any info on T-Mobile, including coverage, and any success stories, or even un-sucess stories...hmmm

Any info would be great.

Also any ideas on WHEN orange will be releasing the JAM??

Moved to PPC PE section.

The last rumour we heard was that Orange had dropped the Jam from their release schedule. What that means I wouldn't like to guess.

i'm in exactly the same position and i very nearly bought an MDA last weekend...

I spoke to a friend who works for Carphone Warehouse about T-mobile coverage in the UK and her advice was that it is fine for the vast majority of the UK EXCEPT the South West - Devon and Cornwall. She said that there were minimal transmitters beyond Plymouth so coverage beyond that would be sketchy at best!

From my point of view that isnt a problem - i'm a sales rep in the south east - but holidaying/surfing would require picking up a PAYG SIM on the other networks for the duration and making sure the MDA is unlocked. Bit of a dodgy work around but probably the only way to do it i think...

Expansys are offering the Jam on Voda tho so that is always a different solution... hmmm... decisions decisions...

There is a recent thread in PPC News that states that Orange in Holland are selling the Jam, renamed as the M500.
This would suggest that the rumours I mentioned above are false and that O will offer it in the UK pretty soon. smile.gif

yeah, kinda dodgy work around, as i also go surfing quite a bit in the summer.

Disco Stu: I have also seen the release of the Jam in Holland, cant get a translation tho, i was wondering wot prices they were, maybe this will be NEARLY the same for UK customers when it is released

Come on Orange

When I was on T-Mobile a year or so ago, the reception was fine in my area.

However, T-Mobile charge £7.50/MB for data (compared with 50p-£2/MB on Orange) so I'd personally avoid them if you ever want to connect to the internet.

Personally, I'd wait for the M500 or buy one SIM-free.
