thanks, great help.

a couple of questions.
1. is there any drawback to the "speed up the interface tip"
2. does removing the startup and shutdown videos result in faster startup or shutdown times?

Thanks for the great writeup!

I recently got a BJII and joined this forum to download your tutorial, after having lurked around looking for info for a few weeks. So this is also my first post.

The tutorial was great, exactly the stuff I want to know, the "good hacks" all boiled down into one easy reference - takes lots of time to filter through all the endless threads to find these goodies.

The only thing I'd request to have added to it would be info on using the GPS and alternative software to use with it. Don't know if that falls under a gray area though, I know the GPS has to be "freed" by adding another COM device to talk to it.

1. honestly i just reset my phone the other day and I couldnt notice a differance in the default settings, compared to the settings i editied in the registry a while ago. huhuh
2.never removed my start/shutdown videos but i read all it does is replace the video with some image and the boot process isnt any faster anyway. but i differntly overright my startup/shutdown sounds to somthing custom.

Interesting... think maybe I won't mess with those settings then, if it doesn't even seem to make a difference.

I'll have to see if my GPS is working, I'm working on getting the new phone all up to speed before I even switch over to it. I see WinMo 6.1 is coming out for it really soon so I may even wait until I flash it to 6.1 so I don't have to redo everything. But then again I may wait and find out if that re-locks it wink.gif
