Astraware are celebrating International Talk Like a Pirate Day by having a one day discount offer on a couple of their Windows Mobile games and are advertising it in a distinctly Piratical (sp?!) manner!

Avast me hearties! Splice the mainbrace and set tunstall... and other rougish mutterings

QUOTE(PRESS RELEASE from www.astraware.com)
THE MIDLANDS, UK - September 19th, 2005 - Avast me hearties!!! Monday 19th September is International Talk Like a Pirate Day and the Astraware Team has decided to embrace the theme wholeheartedly. ARRR!

We've dressed the office with palm trees and parrots and we're bracing our mainsails and shivvering our timbers for a fine rum ole time! To share the festivities with you, we're making two top pirate-themed titles available with a special discount for one day only.

Blast the pirates with a full broadside from your cannons or lure them on to the reefs in Seven Seas for Palm OS® and Windows Mobile™ for Pocket PC and Smartphone. In Tradewinds you can build your empire through swashbuckling sea combat and trade! Achieve the ultimate rank of Tai Pan or become the renowned Pirate King, Gossamer. Tradewinds is available for Palm OS® and Windows Mobile™ for Pocket PC. This one-day discount offers both titles with 10 pieces of silver off the regular price, making Seven Seas $4.95 and Tradewinds $9.95.

Here's a word from our very own tyrannical pirate captain, Redbeard Tomlinson: "Arrr, now's yer chance to get a bit piratey -  and if we don't get at least an Arrr out of ye, it'll be twelve strokes of the cat and no internet access for the rest of the day! A-harrr."

For a fantastic example of 'Review Like a Pirate', check out James Sweet's swashbuckling review of Seven Seas:http://www.smartgamer.org/reviews/sevenseas/.

To avail yourself of these rum discounts, visit http://www.astraware.com or to get in on the fun, check out http://www.talklikeapirate.com.

This reminds me a little bit of a game called Pirates Gold, which I used to play back in the 386 days. Did a quick google search for it and you can actually download it for free now. Anybody fancy a quick port?

Ye old carrier parrot had a dead leg. Aye he be a bit slow on these here shores... (in other words I only had the email passed onto me tonight biggrin.gif )

Pirates (and later Pirates Gold) was an absolute classic. Funnily enough I remember think recently I'd love to play it on my Pocket PC rather then having to dig out the old Amiga CD32!

ARRR! THERE BE... ahm... sorry, there be gold in those there hills! laugh.gif

There still be time! wink.gif

Arrr! He only got one wing. Lost in a terrible battle against the Dutch (big shout out to Confused and Hung Over biggrin.gif ). Shot clean off.

Ar... right. It's midnight so I guess I can stop talking like that.

Anyone for tea? laugh.gif

EDIT: hey, is the Modaco clock out? Or is it my PC? :?:
