![]() Well, they did... and there is a whole ton of information about it around the web now, which i'll try and link here! It's a hot device, that's for sure! Specs are as follows...

I'm sure I've seen this on a billboard add in manchester near the MEN arena - it's on display in an art gallery with the sign ' please touch' - I dismissed it as an iphone wannabee - didn't see any mention of windoze. I'll have another look as i walk past tonight.
One thing that always puts me off a samsung phone, windows mobile or not - is the appalling battery life :-( M.S |

Yeah, let's hope that's improved!

That's a nice looking handset, the first touch screen I've seen that I'd actually consider buying (didn't like the HTC Touch UI)
What always puts me off is the proprietary connector, altho I might be able to live with it for these specs ;) Agreed, not only is the Samsung proprietary connector bloody awful, but the resulting plugs are very thin, prone to breaking easily and don't connect with the satisfying "thunk" of a solid mini-USB port. One thing that always puts me off a samsung phone, windows mobile or not - is the appalling battery life :-( Not had many probs with battery life on my i600. Have switched off the 3G bit as I don't use it and can get 3-4 days with calls, wifi and SMS using the standard battery. Have found that having the wrong app running in the background (take a bow Resco Diamonds) and not closing it properly can kill the battery stone dead within hours but I guess this would be the same with any other moby. Regards, Dark Horse |

This device looks ideal to me except for one key issue - whether 3rd party apps will run on the 400x240 WQVGA screen. I have the same concern for the Xperia X1 at 800x480. The HTC Touch Pro with have normal VGA 640x480 which at least scales to QVGA directly, which I assume will be less problematic.
I don't know the extent that 3rd party apps will run on the i900. I'm particularly concerned about a few KEY apps that have a history of not updating on a timely basis, such as: Slingbox Live 365 Internet Radio app Mobi-reader (I also use Coreplayer a lot but I have confidence that they will update if needed quickly.) Has anyone tried these apps in a non-standard resolution? Tony |

Regards, Dark Horse The Samsung connector was revised for the G600/i780 etc and is much better. Battery life on the i780 is as good as any other PPC phone too, despite the 624MHz CPU. So I'm not to worried about that on the G900 with its beefed up battery. I expect battery life (+speed + cost) is one reason why they've kept the screen lo-res too. Shame it puts it below the iPhone which it apes, and the current crop of VGA HTCs. 800x480 would have been sweet... This post has been edited by Metoo: Jun 17 2008, 18:13 |

That's what I always talking about!
Well done Samsung! The screen size should never be a problem anymore, if it is still a problem, the stupid Microsoft Windows Mobile Framework should take care of it any way! Jim -------------------- BroadTooth - the Bluetooth broadcasting system, a smart way to advertise!

Certainly looks like it has the specs of a winner! I'm still drawn by the compactness of the Diamond though :/ As for battery the past 2 samsung winmo handsets have been ok...
