 Cameraware do not switch to day mode when I set it

Device(s): T-Mobile MDA Vario III
Installed cameraware as clean install.

Registered it, downloaded the updated DB.

Connected it. Noticed it went to Night Mode.

Ah, ha, a setting.

Went to Options -> Display -> Day Mode - selected that.

It's still in Night Mode.

Connected again, but it's still Night Mode. went to Options -> Display again to double check and it's still shows Day Mode - see screenshot.
