I have a few questions on VPN configuration and Remote Desktop application for the BlackJack 2 i617

1. I setup a VPN connection thru Settings -> Connections -> VPN -> add new

However the only two methods of authentication I see for IPSec authentication are Pre-Shared Key and Certificate what would you have to do if you need to configure a group security authentication via a Group ID and Group Password where the Group Security Credentials is setup to use Group Password Authentication. (During the setup of VPN I chose connect from "the Internet" and chose for connect to "Work")

I believe this is the source of my connection failure as everytime I try to connect to a site behind the VPN connection the phone shows a message which says: "Error - The remote party has ended this connection." (On IE before connecting I choose Work as my connection)

2. I had found a remote desktop application while searching online which shows a small navigation to the lower right hand corner of the display which allows the user to navigate the whole desktop but I believe this was built for touch screen pda's as I was unable to see anywhere other then upper left corner of my desktop during the remote desktop connection. I have heard about a virtual mouse application to navigate on apps like this but had no success in getting it working. I do want a VNC like remote desktop where I have to install something on my phone and remote machine as I think this is useless dry.gif (and because I don't want another hole in the firewall for this service).

Does anyone know of an app that handles the remote desktop connections for non-touchscreen phones preferrably that also can handle higher color resolutions.

So here are some updates to my issue for anyone interested.

I have installed the RDP client that "Mikeeey" posted about, on this thread: http://www.modaco.com/content/smartphone-s...ay-around-with/. I was also successful at getting SPHelper to work which emualtes a mouse pointer for me to use on the remote desktop session. cool.gif

Attached File  RDP.jpg ( 10.85K ) Number of downloads: 3

(Taken and edited from Mikeey's post)

I also posted a comment on using SPHelper on "Mikeeey"s Thread which basically mentioned that if someone uses the SPHelper mouse pointer to navigate the Remote Desktop and they enter the green navigation pane (shown in above image) to browse to a different section of the remote desktop then they cannot escape from this segment without moving the remote desktop as well if their mouse pointer is somewhere in the center of this navigation pane. This is due to the fact that the RDP application was intended for PPC's with a touchscreen so the user would have had the ability to tap and drag instead of hover over a field with the mouse mad.gif . Did not recieve any feedback on this issue yet dry.gif .

I have still not found a solution to my VPN problem and am really curious to how I will manage to get this to work. wacko.gif

I also have another problem which is related to the VPN connection and the RDP client:

If I had setup a correct VPN connection, then how can I choose to use the VPN Connection to connect to a remote desktop (inside the VPN) instead of using the Internet Connection (which will fail to resolve the ip-address)? huh.gif

Any help with this would be much appreciated.
