Any good turn by turn gps software out there?
I'd like a flat fee software and not a monthly fee one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm using Garmin XT and it's amazing! Although the visuals lag by about a second, the voice directions are spot on and even try to compensate for speed (i.e. if you're going faster it will tell you to turn earlier).

Garmin XT works great with the BlackjackII. I just used it extensively the last two days on a business trip and, aside from becoming confused a couple of time, it work really, really well. If you do plan on buying Garmin XT, I suggest not buying it from Garmin, but shop around for it on the Internet. Many places sell the software for less than Garmin.

And on a second note, yeah Garmin is cool. Lately my GPS has gone to being funky though...maybe it's the extreme cloudiness we've been experiencing.

Yep. I bought mine through Newegg.com for less than what Garmin wanted. I also saw the software being sold on Amazon.com for less than Newegg.com.

Does the Garmin software require a data connection?

I'm looking for some software that doesn't use the data connection. I don't care if it hogs memory space, I have a 4GB expansion card.

Is there anything out there like this?

Garmin does not require data unless you want traffic and weather. There is an option in the settings menu to disable data completely.
