I have a Blackjack II and I downloaded and installed the MoDaCo GPS Unlocker cab. Now, to get GPS to work on my phone, I have to wait 2-15 minutes for it to "warm up," or start up, by going to windows live search and pressing "center on GPS." (Google Maps times out). After it finds its position using Windows LiveSearch, it works for the rest of the programs. Is there any way to turn the GPS chip on all the time and get it working without having to go to LiveSearch and have it start up? I usually have to wait 2-15 minutes before it decides to start up, during which the back of the phone gets very hot. Thanks.

Using GPStest will fire it up quicker.....just go over to the "lostsouls thread of tips" thread and look for the shortcut provided there...download it and paste it into the start menu folder...

You cant leave the GPS on all the time...the battery just wont take it....it'll be dead in less than a a few hours/a day if your lucky. In most cases you dont need to have any hacks installed to run the GPS...When using Garmin XT it activates the GPS on it's own using the intermediate driver....in most cases a lock is achieved in less than two minutes. This is how mine works anyway....

I think if you read the threads regarding GPS (right to the end) youll see there is nearly no need to use any hacks on this phone now for GPS to work.....

Try this as well, there is a "my location" service under options, I think that is what it is called.

Go into that like you're going to disable it but instead hit the left soft key for "enable." So far, that seems to start my GPS right up when i need it.

Sorry, are you talking about Google maps, GPS Test, or Windows Livesearch when you say this?

Hope u guys found it. It's only under google maps.

I found that after you "enable" my location, you may have to do it a few times but then select use GPS after each try and usually on the 2nd or 3rd try the GPS starts right up. After that it doesn't matter which program u switch to, the GPS will work.

My usual situation is that lately i get the gps working under google and then read the address into msn live maps. I love that voice feature. But anyways, i can't say I have much of a problem anymore and i don't have to eat up power waiting for the GPS to start up.

So give it a try, it should work for u.
