I give it two big thumbs up. We love the original Willy Wonka in my family. Almost in a cult classic kind of way. I was a bit leery of the new one...but it makes you forget all about the first.

The oompa loompas are hysterical and Johnny Depp/Tim Burton did a great job translating Wonka from the book.

This movie is more like the book than the original...but it adds it's own twist.

Highly recommended!. 8)

Hmmm but remakes are notoriously poor! I daren't watch it incase it ruins the original for me smile.gif

Not as much a remake as it is a different adaptation. Similarities can't be helped as they are both based off of the book, but there are different takes on the characters and storyline. Some obviously different. Some slightly. But it was all done really well.
