After pulling apart madu's izip.cab, i realised that all you have to do to make a certain file type downloadable is the following:

For example, you wanna download and .exe file but ie wont let you,

Open up your reg editor and go to HKCR

Look for .exe and go into it

There will be a value called default, open it and inside will be the name of another value that it links to, in this case its "exefile".

Scroll down until you come to exefile and open it

You will see two keys, DefaultIcon and Shell

When you see these create a new d-word value called "editflags" and set it to "65536"

Viola, you have now enabled .exe's to be downloded in ie.

This method will work for all other file types but the new smartexplorer takes care of that for you, the only one it doesnt is exe files.

Ive attched a cab jus to make life easier for you all but if u feel the need to do it manually...now you know how

Attached File(s)
Attached File  exedl.CAB ( 464bytes ) Number of downloads: 290

the standard pocket ie lets you download all media player compatible files and cab's wink.gif The new smartexplorer lets u manage all files types (except .exe's) so that u can change the prog that open's them, their icon and weather they can be downloaded in ie. You can also do it manually by followin the method outlined in my first post smile.gif

in relation to dinoalbert's question, why is it sometimes that i can download zip files in PIE and sometimes not? what gives?

EDIT: i've used rcperez's cabfile instead... and it works fine with me now...

The reason you sometimes can and sometimes cant is down to the servers. You may notice for example that you cant download from MoDaCo on your phone.

Also, i dont see why rcperez's tweak should work for you better than mine, they both do exactly the same thing...as does the new smartexplorer. A value called editflags is added and set to 65536. If anyone bothered to pull the cabs apart you would see this
