Just tried the following url

http://www.orange.co.uk/diamond/

And it downloaded a temperature monitor program for diamond,
Looks like customer services must be getting customers to check on the battery temp!

Has anyone else got readings of 47 degrees? Admittedly this is just after charging in the car using bluetooth and GPS but still, couldn't you fry an egg on that?

It's likely to be the GPS making you toasty. Most recent HTC devices get hot when using their internal GPS.
