Hi guys

After flashing another rom from Dutty this morning, I was wondering about the possability of a program where should you have a big enough sd card ( mine is 8gb so I think I have plenty!) and you need to hard reset/flash a new custom rom, that you just run a cab, it looks to a directory on the sd card for cab files of all the programs you want, and runs them concurrently.

For those programs that require registration perhaps there could be some sort of encrypted file within that directory which has all of these and can be put in as required so that no other interaction would need to happen. Of course if this bit is too much hassle then I am sure I could live with it.

One other idea is for apptodate compatability whereby apptodate when checking the status of the version of any software would automatically save the cab file to said directory, overwriting the previous version of the software and thus saving it for any future hard resets/rom upgrades and thus also saving on unecessary use of data.

Forgive me if this sort of program has already been produced. I would love to be able to write it myself but I am no programmer! But maybe for someone who has got this knowedge, they could produce a very handy program.

Just please let me have a copy first and if charged for, for free as I think this is my idea!! (any potential royalties can be discussed later!!!)

Cheers

Phill

Spooky, I posted exactly the same thing recently ... even down to the detail of holding registration codes etc.

Can't find the post though! (or it might have been a PM to Paul).

Great Minds Eh!

There is a utility on XDA-Devs that has been developed for just this purpose - it's called UC SDconfig Builder. It's started to be adopted by ROM chefs, who have begun to cook it into their ROMs so that whenever you flash their ROM, the SDconfig application runs as part of the ROM customisation process and installs all your favourite apps. and CABs from the Storage Card....read this post for all the gory details!!! AFAIK, some of Dutty's ROM's are "UC compatible", so you might be in with a fighting chance!!!

HTH,

Mark.

M@rkC

Just seen this reply, (ok quite a while now!) but I have seen what they are doing over there with this one. Looks like its gone quite far, which is good news.

Im glad someone has developed it, as I just wanted it for free, and if the guys over at xda are doing it, it could well end up for free.

Ill try to keep a closer eye on it, and hopefully its something that can be talked about on the main news page, as this could well end up being one heck of a decent program.

Cheers

something that's even easier then UC is SASHIMI (also over at xda-developers)

just simply drop the cabs you want into the AUTO or MANUAL folder, and it'll do it upon a new rom install!

Hi

Just trying Sashimi, only problem is that I would like it to register all the details I need.

For instance, I am using cameraware and resco file explorer.

Its ok for these to install but is there a way for them to register themselves as well?

Ive had a bit of a look but if anyone can answer this question I have it doing all that I need.

Cheers

Phill

Totally with you on this one Phill ... even better if you can register your details, and it even upgrades the apps for you too.

Ha ha

I'm so lazy! Me thinks the kaiser will end up being my new test device while I wait for the raphael to come out, which hopefully will be soon!

So therefore would like to have this in place as I am sure there will be a million and one updates available!

Cheers
