New version available

NEW Download Page
THE LINK HAS BEEN UPDATED - March 16 2004

What's new
- Stop / play / playlist handling now ok with audio files
(but still no pause/resume/seek for MP3 and OGG, couldn't
find the bug) [FIXED]
- Equalizer for MP3 & Divx with MP3 sound
- plays OGG Vorbis files (really  )
- added some new menus : equalizer config, backlight state,
reinit Registry...

I did some tests with OGG play, at 64Kbps the quality very
good (better than 64Kb WMA), background play is possible
without to many interruptions (at least while browsing the net
with pocketIE), and with easy playlists edition (.PDL), it's now
my default music player 8)

I probably won't make any new version, unless new bugs
are discovered...

Have fun smile.gif

Awesome Malloc!!! I like it a lot (and with my skin on....) IT JUST ROCKS!!
And my congrats on the equalizer - you're the first to do THAT!!!! Cool!

Though I am very disappointed that MP3 resume doesn't work sad.gif those 50min sets are just unplayable now sad.gif I do use the earlier version to play those. But need to change registry every time I use newer/older version.

Could you possibly make them use different reg Keys (like PocketMVP4 or smthin)?? That would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks
madu

@neilfenstein
yes it's a cab, right click and choose "save target as"

Then copy it with activesync on ipsmwindowsstart menuaccessories and then go there through spv programs menu and launch it.

He was trying to download it straight into his phone (which for some reason in this case won't work?)

Had one problem, opening a file then part playing it, then choosing another file etc
made MVP freeze. I had to press end call button to get out :?
I guess it's down to not enough free memory?

I liked the previous version, because it allowed you to keep the backlight on, without it affecting your "Power Management" settings. This version alters the setting to "Screen Saver Mode = Turn off" resulting in a blank screen (which I don't like) Is there any way to stop this version from doing that (maybe a registry setting)? if not I think I'll use the previous version.

I solved the pause / seek problem with Audio files biggrin.gif
Also the PowerManagement settings are setback correctly on
exit now (sorry about that one, forgot to remove temporary
modificiations for debug  )

The new updated version is available at the same location...

It's probably going to be the last version this time... honestly

Yes this is a big problem... It's hard to find exactly where
the bug is, there's 3 running threads with many events to synchronize
them, and some time the main thread waits for another indefinitely
because he didn't receive the event he was waiting for... It's quite
hard to trace the code when it does that

Anyway I rather prefer to quit PocketMvp after playing a file, before
opening a new one...

What about making a seek the recovers a/v sync ?

(tried seeking on mikes_new_car_sps, it looses the a/v sync)

The thing is, I NEVER PLAY MPG VIDEO FILES with PocketMvp tongue.gif
...so I don't really care... as the a/v sync recovers perfectly
with Divx files
and that's all I want 8)

Anyway I think that people who wants to play Mpg video files should
consider using PocketTV wich seems far better for this purpose only
I rather prefer Full Screen Divx !!!

To resume :

- MPG : PocketTV
- DIVX (fullscreen), MP3 and OGG : PocketDivx

And everybody is happy smile.gif

Message perso pour Tristant Savatier : Je crois que tu devrais arreter
ces confrontations incessantes sur les forums entre pocketdivx et
pockettv, on dirait un mome de 12 ans, et perso je m'en fous totalement,
ca me fait meme rire.
Merci

Sorry, I was just reporting a genuine problem I found in PocketDivX on the Smartphone.

Of course, the bug is not your fault, but nonetheless it exists.

We have had similar bugs in PocketTV, too sad.gif

The a/v sync issues are exacerbated when using low-bitrate streams.

I'm not trying to confront PocketDivX or to say that you did a bad job... In fact you did a pretty impressive job with the PocketDivX port, also given that you just did that for yourself. We appreciate that. Hopefully someone else to continue your work.

So please don't get upset just because we report a bug (we certainely don't when people report bugs in our app). Especially since you are not to blame for that one, so you should not take it personally.

Yes, the problem is in the underlying decoder(s), and i'm sure Mark Dukette knows about it, since I have seen reports of this problems for years and years. Unfortunately Mark is more busy adding support for new formats than fixing bugs sad.gif

You're probably right that PocketDivX is not the best solution to play MPEG video, but it does a good job at playing other audio and video formats that are not supported by other apps, and it's also a pretty good audio player (MP3 etc).

(V.nice malloc, mvp plays 32 bit audio in divx's fine :-)... well it does in the file posted so am off to convert some music vids and try them out)

Just a stupid question: If I want to play this file on the desktop, what should I install ?

On my XP system, WMP only plays the audio... screen is black.
