-EDIT-
As well as the original alpha blended particle fountain there is also now one that isn't alpha blended, but as a result of this, it displys 300 particles on screen at same time and managing to achieve 65-75 frames per second which i would say is pretty impressive for this phone. Once again it will work as a screensaver with pocket candy if you rename it from exe to scr. but I wouldn't like to say how fast it will drink the battery juice This one is ParticleFX2.cab Enjoy. Matt -ORIGINAL MESSAGE- Ok here is just a quick partcle demo for the smartphone, it looks pretty and that is about it. Looks a bit like a fountain fireworky type thingy. Why did I write it. Coz I can!! Once installed, run it from StartMenu under the Games Folder. Enjoy!! Matt Croccy22 http://www.spvsoft.co.uk

Very nice!
Is 29.6fps a reasonable figure to be getting? Cpt. Andy -------------------- "If you are intelligent enough to get Linux running on your computer, why in the name of all that's holy would you want to use AOL?"

about 25 to 30 fps could you make it so we have some options to set ?? number of balls or some different movement patterns .... maybe cycling background colors. -------------------- |

I am hoping to turn it into some sort of nostalgic demo. with music and a scrolly or something. I could also incorportate options such as increase/decrease gravity, increase particles etc, Drops to about 12fps with 100 on screen though :/
i'll see how bored I am over the next few days. Matt |

was just messing around with the demo, and decided to stick it in the pocket candy screensaver directory to see if it would work as a screen saver.....and hey presto! it works!!

The amiga 500 could handle some amazing demo's with just 7mhz - we got 133Mhz here boys - it's not unlikly we can do the same is it ? i mean, ok theres no CIA chips for timing, no coperlist, no fat agnus and no paula but with all the extra power surely we dont need that custom stuff ?
Id LOVE to see an amiga style demo running on my SPV. You dont need a coperlist cos the screens so small you could easily get away with a sliding bitmap instead. The maths for the sine-scroll are already out there in source code land (try pouet.net ) and the old fonts n stuff again are just bitmaps which letters are cut out of and dragged across the screen from buffer to buffer - add playing an MP3 which the SPV already does amicably well and demo's suddenly seem quite possible. |

I think this thread should be renamed 'ParticleFX Demo as Screensaver'. Just a suggestion. NICE WORK Croccy22

Ok for those of you who liked that then i will port my other version tomorrow once i have added a bit of colour to it. This version just uses 6x6 non alpha blended sprites. But as a result of that, it now handles 300 sprites on screen at same time running at a cushty 70-75 frames per second.
Dunno what the frame rate would be like whilst playing a mod file at the same time. might give it a go just to test the performance more than anything. would post a screen shot but as with the first, when it is static it don't really look anything special. Matt Croccy22 http://www.spvsoft.co.uk |

Now what would look really good is if a few of them would bounce off the bottom and sides of the screen
