I'm a little confused on the actual way you close programs down and leave your phone in idle mode.

If, I ( for example ) open

Touch player and then close via the X button.
Windows Media player and then close via the X button.
Bubble game and then close via the X button.
Messaging and then close via the X button.

If I then goto Task Manager or Task Switcher.
It says all the programs are running still...

You can imagine my surprise after playing with my phone and showing a few people at work how slow it was getting etc..

So....

How do you close a program down for good ?
Is there an automatic way to exit and quit upon "X" button without having to install a 3rd party rom ?

I've been a windows fan boi for a few years now and have never come across the X button meaning "suspended"

Dan- Windows Mobile (and Pocket PC before it smile.gif ) has always suspended programs rather then closing them. supposedly to make them load quicker when you want them, and the memory management was supposed to close the least used program when needed.

In reality, the memory management was poor, and still is, but MS cling to the principle. In fact at one time (not sure about now) they would not validate a program for PPC unless it was set to suspend rather than close.

We all use some sort of memory management now, either provided by the supplier (HTC) or 3rd parties. The simplest one is HTC TAsk Manager- I think this will work fine with the Omnia. Otherwise SHSH iLauncher or SPB Pocket Plus offer app closing amnong their many other functions.
