 Headset plugged in but phone still rings

sorry if this has been asked before but I've searched and couldn't find the answer.
Can anyone tell me how to set my omnia up so that when the Headset is plugged in I only hear the ring through the Headset and not from the phone itself?

I had a XDA mini-s before and that automatically went into headset mode but my omnia seems to be lacking that facility.

have you set the Bt as hands free in the bT section?

By BT do you mean Bluetooth? if so does that need to be set to headset for the supplied plugin headset then?
