I kind of kludged it using
"NoData - disable your GPRS connection while you are on holiday, and save those bills! - http://www.modaco.com/New-FREE-Utility-t246171.html" (from Paul's Essential Omnia Software thread) and switched off everything that was available.

I'm not sure if the problem is caused by a setting in your mail configuration. Does it use WiFi or GPRS when you want to use a browser?

Hi
I can use my browser with Wifi, It´s only my emailaccount that is connecting to 3G/GPRS. Even if I my WIFI is connected, my mail emailaccount connects to GPRS. So my phone uses WIFI and 3G at the same time

Click menu->tools-> Options... and select your e-mail account screen name. Then,
On the 5th page of the E-mail setup (the one were you set your outgoing SMTP mail server) find the link near the bottom "Advanced Server settings", its usually hidden under the keyboard, so put that away.

There is a drop down menu for "Network Connection", select "The Internet" and it should now use wifi to download e-mail.

One thing to note However, if wifi isn't available- it won't connect to GPRS, rather just whine that there is no availble connection.

Trying to figure that one out.

email usually uses The Internet connection... check if your wifi is set to this profile as well

Start->Settings->Connections->Wifi

and go to Network Adapters tab (at the bottom of wifi setting screen) change My network card connects to: The Internet instead of the default Work when shipped or flashing new rom

to be safe, also click each of your internet email account in messaging option to double confirm it is using The Internet.

Messaging option, click the account settings, click on the account,
click Edit Account Setup
click next until you see "Outgoing SMTP mail server", find the blue link word bottom of the screen saying "Advanced Server Settings" and make sure it is poiting to The Internet for the Network connection.
click OK or Done or Next until you finishes.

Hi, and thanks but.....
Now I can use my browser (with Wifi) and I can download my emails at the same time but... When I am at a place that doesn´t have wifi connection I want my phone to (automatically) connect to GPRS/3G. (Without changing any settings in my Phone, in the way Lucavi explainded). It´s strange because when I connect the browser (not using wifi) the browser connects with the GPRS/3G. Then when I try to download my emails I get an error "Cannot connect"
I have a HTC x7500 (WM 6.0) and everything works in that device the way I wanted. I can´t se any differences in my settings compared with the Omnia, but there must be something.
Regards
Hans

EDIT: I think that I found the problem, under settings-advanced the select networks- In "internet" there was a strange connection. After that I had set up my suppliers settings, everything works.

Thanks for all your help
Hans

Hmm i still can't get this to work. If I set up the e-mail to use "The internet" It will use Wifi (if it's enabled), but i'll have to manually connect to GPRS if I want it to get e-mail when there is no wifi available. Whcich is annoying because i have to open oprea, then close it etc.

Is there a way to set up GPRS as "the internet". So that the mail server will connect to that when WiFi is not available/connected?

Hi
Under connections-settings and tasks I have my connection, If I choose manage existing connections I can se my modem.
Here I have:
Name for the connection: I just call this "my connection"
Select to a modem: Cellular line GPRS
-Next
Access point name. This is something I got from my supplier
-Next
User name etc I don´t have anything
-Finish
Then under proxysettings I have checked "this networks connects to internet" and "This network uses a proxy server". Under advanced I have a
-HTTP
-WAP
-Secure WAP
-Socks
(really don´t know what this is but I got the info from my supplier)

Under "advanced" (in settings) "select networks". I have "My internet" (first one) choose edit. Here I have the same connection that I have above, (Access point name)

After I did this, It connects to GPRS automatically when there is no wifi around.

Hope this helps
Hans
